Enhanced Quality Voices

Hi,

I'm writing to day to ask a question about my Voiceover compact voices. For some reason, all the compact voices that are available for my iPhone 5S sound really distorted and quite awful. Could it be the way the voices installed? I know they sound perfectly fine on other phones I've heard. Right now I'm using default Australian Karen. Her compact equivalent sounds really bad.

Any help on this subject would be appreciated. :)

The compact voices are supposed to sound bad and low quality. This is because they are for use with phones with less space, or phones that have a lot going at once process wise. I always use the hq voices if I can, but if I on't have enough space for some reason I force myself to use compact.

The enhanced Samantha sounds fine to me. I use Alex

Alex takes up almost 1GB of phone space. Not a problem, but he is too quiet and sometimes lags behind or skips around on my IPhone 6.

How odd, Have you tried restarting the phone and reinstalling them? Your speaker might also be going out as well. Just some ideas.

It is really odd, but I honestly don't think it's my speakers. I just got this phone last year. nothing else sounds distorted. It just seems to happen with HQ voices. It's so weird. I'll try reinstalling them.

I would try that. and it might be your speakers. Iv'e had it on occasion where everything but one thing causes the speakers to go crazy and make that one thing sound horrible.

I used to use the enhanced Samantha on IOS 7 on my 5s no problem. I loved it. Then after updating to IOS 8, which has been great in every other way, I absolutely hate the enhanced voices. They sound terrible. I can't figure out why. I thought maybe it didn't install fully, so I deleted and tried again. No go. I tried another language that I speak, same thing with that one. Music sounds fairly okay. The compact voice is just better than the awful distorted mess coming out of my speakers with those voices.
I wish I had an answer of some sort for you. I'm just glad to know I'm not imagining it, at this point.

I found that the high quality voices sounded absolutely terrible on my iphone 4 s and was excited to try them again when I bought my iphone 6. I installed and tried several of them and got the same result. The low quality sounds okay and the high quality is distorted and tinny.

I have 5s and I've installed samantha, karen and UK enhanced voices. But while listening to hindi enhanced voice, I feel like puking. lol. That doesn't sound good at all. I thought my speaker might have gone boom. But no. All the other voices are ok though.

Let us wait for 2 more days and see how it goes after IOS9? But I'm with IOS9.1 beta now. As per that, only the hindi voice sounding aweful.

Make sure that the volume of voice over is added to your router. Make sure that the volume is at 85 percent. They will not sound so distorted. The only reason I set mine to 100 percent, because Alex is very quiet at 85. 85 percent is the default volume.

I believe this has something to do with the vocalizer voices only. Something has probably changed in the coding or whatever they do and now this is what we are left with to use if not using Alex.
