Hi all, I am a new Iphone user. I love my Iphone and I owe a bunch of gratitude to you guys for teaching me how to setup and use my 5c out-of-the-box. I really like the point that one can place a finger on a letter or number and with a free finger tap anywhere on the screen to add to edit field. Being a total, I really enjoy using tap tap see. So, keep it up guys and girls, you are really helping.

Hi tony. first welcome to the site, congrats on having a better phone then I do. I don't think I like that, just kidding. Anyway, split tap typing for me is a pain in the well, other end. I realize you're brand new to the phone, but let me give you a heads up. Even though I'm blind as well, I try to do things as sighted as I possibly can. That means, whenever you're ready enable touch typing by, using the roter to dial until it says typing mode then flick up or down, it doesn't matter which way you do that. Once you do that, turn the dial again to something, characters, words etc. My view is everyone else is touching their phones and having the characters they want show up instantly. I'm not saying you ro anyone else who uses the other typing is wrong or should do things how i do them, just giving you food for thought. It's not my intent to offend you ro anyone who reads this so please don't take my sighted comments then anything but my own views.

I find standard typing easier to use. I have tried touch typing and I don't like it.

Isaac, remember this person's just gotten his iPhone. If i've gotten your gender wrong, please accept my apologies. As I said, when you are ready, try standard typing. You can always switch back. there are so many ways of typing. Running a finger all ove the keyboard, double tapping, swiping to the letter, double tapping, holding your finger ont he letter tapping with another finger... It's all about your comfort level.

I just found out that there is a page selection on my phone. I'm still having problems typing anything. I could use some suggestions I'm using the tap and tap-tap method, whatever that's called. I do not seem to be able to enter anything with ease even though I have struggled for a year.

Hi!
Standard typing is when you use a split tap to produce a letter on the keyboard. Touch typing is when you slide a finger to find the letter then lift. Direct touch is like standard typing.

How are you actually suppose to use direct typing. I heard that it is not too difficult.

I honestly think its like standard typing, but am not sure as I don't use it at all.

I can say different stroke for different fokes. I prefer touch typing myself. I'm not good with typing in the iPhone. So I bought this anker bluetooth keyboard. but whenever I'm going out, if I want to type something, I prefer touch typing.
