Announcing Crossly, an accessible crossword game for iOS

We released a new game last week, Crossly, and we tried to make it as accessible as possible. Here's what we did:

Game List
- Every game in the list will voice who’s turn it is, the opponent’s name, percentage of game completed, and the current score

Game Board
- Every letter on the board when tapped will voice what its contents currently is. Additionally, it will voice the type of letter (pen or pencil) and its location in its word for the current direction of the game (horizontal or vertical).
- Tapping the clue bar will read the currently selected clue, its direction, and the clue contents.
- Tapping the header will voice the status of the game (same as in the clue list).
- When popups are displayed, their contents will be voiced as well (there’s probably some room for improvement here, but it’s not worth any more dev until we get feedback).

Please try it out and let us know how we can improve it. You can find it on the app store here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/crossly/id871860021

If you like it, please post to the App directory.

You can send feedback to support@cross.ly

Here's the website with more information: http://cross.ly/

Thanks,

Paul

Hello! Sorry I haven't put Crossly in the App Directory here, I don't know how to do that, so I'll leave that to someone who can. In the meantime, I have an important thing to ask as a new player. I've just started playing Crossly, but I admit I'm confused about playing it. I can usually get letters into the right places if I know exactly what a word is, but I can't work out how to delete words, nor how to be sure I'm working with the right clue in the first place. I admit I've resigned from two games because I really wasn't sure what I was doing, so if someone can give step-by-step instructions on how to play this game, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance for any help, for me or for others.

This sounds like it has a lot of potential. I look forward to downloading it when I get home.

Does this game allow me to play solo. I just want to solve the puzzles on my own without worrying about playing with someone else. :)

Unfortunately, we have not built a single-player mode yet. It is, however, our most requested feature!

I just stumbled upon this game a couple of days ago, and once I figured out what to do I've enjoyed it a lot. It requires quite a lot of exploring the screen rather than swiping, but this makes sense given the nature of the game.

I seem to remember exploring the screen rather than swiping when I tried playing Crossly last year, but I still couldn't get the hang of it. But maybe I'll re-download it at some point, hoping that i'll find it easier to find my way round the grid and to delete unwanted words than I did in 2014.
