I was looking at the family membership of Apple Music and see that Apple have set charges using a straight GB Pound for US Dollar conversion so in the USA the cost is $14.99 and in the UK it's £14.99. in US Dollars this means I'd be paying about $23.47 at the exchange rate used at the time of writing. this kind of thing has always irritated me greatly and doesn't seem quite fair! Aplle say it's probably because of taxes etc, but even taking that into account the figures are a bit out of sync!

Agreed
I agree with you. I'm in the US, but I can only imagine how it is for people in other countries. :(
Something else, I don't agree with the concept of forcing everyone to use iTunes or an iDevice to listen to Beats 1.
I have found a link to a playlist to be added to media players, but some of you might experience varying results depending on which player you use with this, haven't tested it out to make sure it's rock solid yet. http://itsliveradio.apple.com/streams/hub01/session01/256k/prog.m3u8
Replacing the 256k with 128k, 64k, etc will give you different quality levels if you're on a so-so Internet connection and can't stream 256 KBPS audio reliably.
Hope this works for someone...
[edit] If anyone's wondering where I found the playlist, check this. http://www.funkyspacemonkey.com/how-to-listen-to-beats-1-radio-without-itunes
Beats1 stream works in VLC
I have tested and can confirm that the playlist URL you gave above works well with VLC media player. I couldn't get it to play in my winamp however. Also another note, if you try and save the playlist file and just launch it locally, that doesn't appear to work, I had to tell VLC to go to that URL directly by doing CTRL+N and entering the above URL to the playlist, which then brought up the stream. Great work!
stream doesn't work, unfortunately
Apple must've changed the url of the stream because as of the time of this writing, the provided link did not work, at least on my windows 7 machine here.
I haven't upgraded yet, can
I haven't upgraded yet, can anybody tell me is my own music library safe. I have over 1400 songs on my phone, some from my own albums and some I have purchased. I presume the purchased ones are safe but what about my own music?
re: yoru library
Your music is safe. you will be able to keep your library. I have no music on my phone but my music on my computer has also been safe as well.
Stream doesn't work anymore
The streaming link I gave above is now broken.
Here is a page with others. https://output.jsbin.com/legoki
I couldn't get any of them to work, however. Maybe others will pop up sometime. If anyone wants to get iTunes on their PC going with Beats 1 and host their own stream, that would be nice. I'm too lazy, though. LOL
