Accessibility Comments

AppleVis Editor Note: this app was submitted before Usability Ratings were introduced, so one has been chosen on the basis of the accessibility comments made by the original poster. If you have used this app, please post a comment to let us know if you agree with the Rating.

Original Comments: It's accessible with VoiceOver turned off. After selecting the difficulty setting, it is necessary to turn off VoiceOver with Triple Click HOME and turn it back on once the game has finished. VoiceOver interferes with gesture-based games by its very nature.

This app is very accessible and fun too. It can teach you to relax your hands as you performa these same jesters every single day and the unlimited levels make it a fun filled game.

My trouble with this game for newbies is that it stops and exits when the game is over. Since it is necessary to run this app with VoiceOver turned off, that means one must re-enable VoiceOver, restart the game then turn VoiceOver back off again. It's really too bad because this should be a very useful app for people like my wife who are struggling with the gestures.
If you learn the placement of the buttons, you can tap the continue button at the bottom center near the home button. The new game in the middle, and the various difficulties where hard is in the middle, medium just below it, and easy toward the bottom. If my 5 year old boy can do it, so can you, *smile*.
You shouldn't have to turn the game off when it's over. If you feel around the screen toward the bottom, you'll see the continue button along with other buttons. It's the same concept as when you have to slide your finger up to see your signal strength and battery power, except you're slowly sliding down. Once you start hearing clicks, the screen kind and not the image kind, it should be safe to flick around. The other suggestion works too, but you can continue on with VO just fine without restarting.

I too cannot do anything but the shake. I use the 3 finger tap to turn off VO.. and no success. I don't seem to have issue with gestures using my phone but for whatever reason.. cannot play this game, and would truly like too!
Assuming you've got it set up, have you tried turning off Voiceover using the Tripple-Click Home toggle method? This will allow you to play audio-based games like this without any problems. As I understand it, tripple-tapping the screen will toggle on and off speech, but not Voiceover itself, so it's gestures would still get in the way.

This most likely will be the answer to several games I've had issue trying! The triple home toggle was not on in my settings.. frustrating, but now resolved! Thank you!

What's New in Version 1.3

We have finished a complete overhaul of Zany Touch to support the latest iPhone and iPad devices and to correct freezing at the end of a game.

We've also added a new connection to Apple's Game Center leaderboards so you can now check your ranking and challenge friends more easily. Enjoy!

Integration with Facebook and Twitter has been fixed and updated.

Hi! I heard of Zany Touch some years ago, but never got it back then: however, having found out yesterday about the new version being released, I decided to buy it. I'm just a beginner so far, and not even very good in Easy mode as i write this, but I'm glad that this game is still around and compatible with IOS 8.3.

What's New in Version 1.4

First we want to say "Thank You!" to all our Zany Touch users who sent in feature requests and feedback. We really value your input!

This version now integrates with the iOS Voice Over accessibility feature so Zany Touch gestures and Voice Over gestures no longer conflict. We hope that
this makes the game more playable and enjoyable for the blind and visually impaired.

In addition we added 40 achievements to Game Center. You can now earn achievements for reaching certain score levels, five-game score averages, number
of plays per day, and for playing each day of one or more weeks.

The last major update is a new game pause feature. By pressing the screen with one finger you can now temporarily pause the game to take a quick break
if things start to get too stressful. You can also use it to skip challenges like "Shake" that may be distracting to others. However there is a point penalty
for pausing so don't pause for too long!

Finally, we've made some other minor updates and bug fixes to improve performance and stability.

We hope you enjoy this latest version of Zany Touch.

Hi All,

I absolutely love this game!
I am a huge Bop It fan, so Zany Touch is a fantastic virtual alternative.

The developers have done a great job on this app, and their efforts regarding accessibility should be applauded.

Kind regards,

Niall

I don't think it's an issue that we can swipe in either direction when Zany Touch tells us to swipe: they've simply given us a choice to swipe either left or right, which I personally think is a good thing rather than a problem.
