Changing texts in text edit

I need to work with two texts in text edit.

I could not figure out a way of letting the two texts opened at the same time. In fact, I can but I can not alternate between the two quickly and this is something I really need to do. The way I do itis accessing the window menu, then choosing the one I want ... but it would be easier if I could issue a ctrl tab like I do when working with more than one tab in Safari for example.
Is there a way of quickly alternate between opened texts in text edit in Mac OS?

I really have no problems with blank lines. What I am asking is how can I alternate between two or more text files opened in text edit

Hi Splyt -- I believe all OS X versions up to and including Yosemite provide the Command+` key combo to toggle between open documents or windows in TextEdit and other compliant applications including Preview, Finder, Mail and Safari.

On a US keyboard, the "`" key is located immediately above the tab key, to the left of number 1. The location of that key differs on other keyboard layouts.
