I wondered if anyone has experience of the latest version of this app. There is a review on this site, but there appears to have been a number of version updates since that review. Being that it costs £3.99, I'd like to be reasonably certain it is still accessible, given that so many apps wind up being inaccessible following updates.

UK Bus Checker
Hi,
Yes! I am using it.
It all works well. I use it most days and it has worked every time.
Hope this helps.

Hi Alan
Hi Alan
What IOS version and device are you using it on? Did you find it easy to navigate without instruction, or did you use the walk through tips that were given on the original AppleVis review for it?
Are you using it to a) locate a bus stop, and/or b) for checking how far away the next bus is on it's route?
Have you also tried the 'route planning' feature?
Many thanks
Sorry for all the questions
Sorry for all the questions by the way Alan!...smiles
I have one more, probably the most important of all...are you using Voiceover with it?
More Accessible, with issues
Hi,
I've been trying to use the latest version of UK Bus Checker. It certainly has had some accessibility improvements in that the buttons and controls are much better labelled now. I've been able to find my nearby stops, and even check on bus times for them. But one thing I can't get to work is the alert system. There is a button at the bottom of the page for each stop, where you can tell the app to notify you before you arrive at that stop with an alert. From what I can tell, you just tap that button and it will add the stop to a list of alerts. But so far, it won't add any alerts at all.
There are a couple of features that have been added to presumably help visually impaired people. For instance, there is an option to speak stops, so you can hear where you are as you are travelling. The problem I have is that this speech is separate from VoiceOver, and you can't shut it up once it starts without turning the feature off again. At least, that's been my experience. Lastly, the main issue I have is that the page that displays nearby bus stops keeps refreshing too often so that VoiceOver keeps being interrupted in telling you something you want to know, to say that the list of stops has been updated.
What I was pleasantly surprised to note was that UK Bus Checker is an Apple Watch compatible app. So far the watch app is accessible, although I'm still in the early stages of trying it out.
