Netflix question and Apple tv question

Hello Darrell. In regard to switching seasons via the Netflix app, locate the words "season 1", for example. VO will also announce the heading level. Mine always seems to be heading level three. Once you have found the season number, then double tap on it. This will bring up a list of all seasons. Double tap on the season you wish to change to. This should then show you the corresponding episodes. Unfortunately, this method seems to produce the desired result only some of the time. Perhaps another person can explain this. It looks like a bug to me but this is how I have been able to switch between seasons sometimes, at least.

With regard to your Apple TV questions, if your TV has an HDMI cable jack then you can plug in your Apple TV to it. HDMI is HDMI and there is no difference that I am aware of. You will need to purchase an HDMI cable with the Apple TV if you want to use your current one for the other device.

As far as the additional content one can receive with the Apple TV, currently, you must still have an active cable provider for most of the channels to be accessible. You just sign into each channel using your cable sign-in info. However, some basic content may be available depending upon the channel you try but this is very limited.

You may consider waiting to purchase a new Apple TV for just a little while. In June, Apple is supposed to announce their new subscription service, which is supposed to have around 25 channels, I think. Also, they are supposed to be announcing a fifth generation Apple TV, too. This new generation will utilize a touch remote, with two physical buttons. One of the things we won't know until June is whether or not you have to use the newest Apple TV model in order to use their new subscription service. If so, you really should consider waiting to purchase the Apple TV until the fifth gen has been released.

As far as dropping your cable provider is concerned, wel, it depends on what you really wish to do. The Netflix app via the Apple TV is a breeze to use. In fact, it is the only subscription service that I personally use. I cut my cable provider back in 2011. If you just can't live without that one certain channel that your cable provider gives you then you will still have to pay for that service and you may possibly see the corresponding channel via the Apple TV. We don't know the channel line-up of Apple's new subscription service yet but perhaps your favorite channel that your cable provider gives you will be in the new subscription service. In that case, dropping your cable provider might just save you some cash for other tech toys.

I hope that I've been able to give you some things to at least consider before purchasing the new Apple TV and/or cutting your cable provider bill.

Hey Darrell, I read somewhere that the new Apple TV subscription may possibly be around $40.00 for about 25 channels. Whehter or not this is correct, we won't know for a couple more weeks at least. But, it's certainly much less than the cable robbers I mean providers out there. I, too, absolutely love my Netflix subscription. Yes, I really miss my ability to watch Fox News, but besides that one thing, I don't care if I have cable anymore. After all, the shows such as NCIS, for example, I just purchase the seasons anyway. No matter that I can't watch during the initial broadcast because I'll have the newest season in due time. If you are like me, cutting the cable bill was one of the best things I've done, especially since I have so much via the Apple TV. I'm hoping that the new subscription service from Apple will have enough content to at least get me to reconsider, but for now, we'll have to wait and see.
