Problems inserting the imogee characters.

Hi all. Since my reformatting problems, I am on Yosemite, not the beta I was at one time using. The imogee picker went back to the weird way with the radio buttons, character section table, grids etc. The newer way, if release is so much easier. Anyway I can pick out whatever I wich, but how to insert it, lies the problem. I can voice over space on it, and i hear "Confirm", and if I do it again, it says the same thing. space bar, doesn't do anything neither does return, or tapping on the trackpad. So wherein lies my error? :) thanks all. I like using them. :) I also can't wait for an easier time of putting them in.
