Hi,
the Audible app has been updated recently, but the main issue I find is that it seems impossible to delete items I have on the device already.
Have you found a way to do this?

I've seen this as well. This seems to be a patchy update for accessibility. The only suggestion is to delete the app, but then of course you'll have to start all over, which isn't at all satisfactory. Activating the delete button seems to produce a cycle of prompts with VO asking you to delete the book from the device, but with no way of completing the action. I also found an unlabelled back button and an unlabelled tab, which are minor. It's really deleting content that seems problematic. Sorry I couldn't be of more help on this. I'm considering downgrading to be honest.

From the looks of their twitter account audible is very aware of the issues, some sighted folks are having issues as well. What those issues are I don't know but clearly, Audible dropped the ball a bit on this one. They've demonstrated that they do care about accessibility, because they've taken the time to add VoiceOver hints to all the elements. One would think that they would test this stuff before the release goes to Apple for approval, but sometimes this stuff gets out without the necessary fixes. I'll just hang out and hope the next update is better.

I think I'll have to not use the app until this is fixed. I'd have to constantly be deleting the app and reinstalling if I kept using it.

An update was released yesterday. Unfortunately it hasn't addressed the issues VO users are experiencing. I have tweeted them with a brief description, but who knows when a fix will come.

Yep, the delete button still doesn't work for VoiceOver users. Seriously, the app has worked beautifully until the last 2 versions were released, they broke things big-time. This is really disappointing, as Audible really did a great job with accessibility before. Talk about a giant step back.

Couldn't agree more. I don't get so irritated by apps that are completely inaccessible, as It's clear that the developer isn't concerned or doesn't know about accessibility and It's importance, but apps that previously worked fantastically and suddenly break a feature or function for no logical reason I can fathom, really frustrate me immensely. Here's hoping for a fix in a relatively timely manner.

Yes, they had fixed the delete feature a few updates ago and now it's broken again. We seem to keep going back and forth with the same issues, and it's really frustrating. I have two very large books on my device, one of which I've just finished, and I'd like to remove it. I suppose I'll just have to delete the app and reinstall again, which is what I did the last time this happened. I'll be getting in touch with them as well. Very frustrating, indeed!

I've recently started using Audible for my books. I've noticed that issue, as I wanted to delete a sample off my phone, but I couldn't do it, then I also finished a book and now I would really prefer to delete it to save space. It would be good for Audible to address this problem, because uninstalling and installing the app again is a bit of a hassle to be honest. But I do hope they fix it eventually.

Yes. It does not delete. How we tell them so?

Try contacting them at their website. This way you can write about a 3 page usability memo about what needs work in the app.
