How is your experience of haptic feedback on the Apple Watch?

Hello fellow Watchers (smiles)

I am curious to hear whether anybody else struggles to tell the difference between the patterns and force levels of haptic feedback?

I know that the actual effect varies between applications and notifications; and that the idea is that the pattern tapped on your wrist gives you an indication of what you're being alerted about. But, in all honesty, by the time that I have realized that I am being ‘tapped’, it seems too late to distinguish the pattern or force level.

Although I have not tested it extensively, this is particularly true of the feedback given when receiving walking directions from the Maps app. I know that it’s supposed to be telling me to turn either left or right, but I’m just not feeling that distinction between taps.

Perhaps I am just too thick-skinned and insensitive (smiles)

So, I would love to hear others experiences … particularly if you have any tips for improving the haptic feedback.

I can not differentiate the taps either.

I did notice that when I have my bluetooth headset on while using maps, i get a descending tone, like ding dong, to indicate a left turn and an ascending tone, like dong ding, for a right turn.

I don't have one of these awesome watches just yet but I do have a suggestion anyway. Do you think it may have something to do with the tightness of your watch band? Perhaps tightening it up a bit would facilitate some clarity in the different taps on the wrist.

I dont' have one yet either and this is a topic I am interested in as I think haptics is an important sensory feedback mechanism that should be explored further. Anyways... My question for those of you who have issues: have you tinkered with the haptic strength settings? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204793
