Since the release of 8.3, I have run into an occasional problem of not being able to lock the screen by way of depressing the power button quickly. It doesn't occur often but when it does, it appears the only resolve is to power down the iPhone. Even if you let the phone sit for the allotted time wherein it would auto-lock, it doesn't. I have not heard of many having this issue but another friend of mine has had it occur also. Thanks.

Hmm. I've never had this
Hmm. I've never had this issue come up before. I don't use auto lock, because I like having complete control over wheater the phone locks or not. But yeah, never seen/had this problem before. If it keeps occurring, contact apple and report this issue that you/your friend is having.
App specific?
Hi,
I have not had this problem, and, as it is not more widely reported, wonder whether it might be the result of an App or peripheral.
Have you noticed whether you and/or your friend have a specific App running when this problem occurs? Rather than power down the device, have you tried killing any open Apps in the App Switcher to see if you can isolate the cause?
Hope you can resolve it.

Odd...
Hello,
What device are you using? I don’t have this issue on my iPhone 6 running IOS 8.3.
I suspect it’s app related. If closing the apps like the previous poster said doesn’t work, try restoring your phone to factory default. Don’t install any apps and see if the problem persist. Then install the app one at a time and see if the problem occurs. This is a pain and a lot of work, but I suspect this is what Apple will have you try.
HTH and good luck.
locking screen on Iphone
Thanks to all for your suggestions. The app suggestion has already crossed my mind that it could be due to an update to an app we both have. The suggestion of checking the app switcher next time it occurs is a worthwhile one. I am using an iPhone 5S as is my friend. However, I thought I was a lone soul in the matter as it took hers almost two weeks after I had noted the problem to her for hers to do it. As I said, for what little it has occurred, I'd rather put up with it than whipe the phone clean and start all over; for me that is not an option, not as of yet anyway. Again, thanks to all so far who have so kindly responded.
