Hello everyone,
Can anyone recommend any good gamebook or interactive fiction style games?

Hi there! If you want interactive fiction, look up choiceofgames and hosted games in the app store. They have many, many titles to choose from. There are a couple duds, but most are simply incredible. Life of A Wizard, the Hero trilogy, choice of the robots, slammed and psy high are ones I particularly enjoyed, but there are a number of other titles for almost any genra you can imagine.

I can't say I've heard of any other developer who makes interactive fiction on iOS. There is of course the Frotz app, but that's an interactive fiction reader rather than an interactive fiction title in its own right. Also, unlike the Choiceof Games and Hosted Games titles, Frotz is a command line style interface rather than a menu selection style interface.

Now that I think of it, there is TheInquisitor by TIconBLU srl, but it's extremely overpriced for what it actually offers. They claim all the audio made it expensive (it's a kind of audio interactive fiction or adventure puzzle game), but they put very little effort into making the UI speech sound natural enough to justify the inflated price.

Timecrest by Sneaky Crab has to be the best interactive fiction game I have ever played. It manages to make it feel like you are really and truly part of the story.

Both of the devs have created either individual games or a library or hub version. The library version gives you all games inside of one app, whereas, the others are just separate apps for each game. The library will consolidate all games nicely for you. Both Choice of Games and Hosted Games are good choices for what you are looking for. You can usually play the first couple of chapters of a game before deciding whether or not to purchase the full game.

Enjoy.
