jailbreaking an iphone with a different itunes account

Hi all, I am wanting to jailbrake my iphone 4, butI don't have a computer with itunes on it. I have a friend who knows how to jailbrake and she has itunes and the jailbrake apps on her computer. If I have her jailbrake it without sinking with iTunes or by loging into my account, will I lose all my contacts? I know I'll lose all my music and apps but I can just redownload them all again later. However I can't with contacts because there aren't stored anywhere on my phone and I can't get iTunes on my computer I have because it has an administrator password. So, if anyone knows a way I can jailbrake without losing contacts and other things such as calindar events, please let me know. Thanks so much, Holly

Could you get the password from someone? Do you not remember your password? Have you tried googling this yet? I'm not sure of how to answer your questions. I don't know if you even can, but what about logging iTunes out of your friends account and into yours? I'm not sure if this is even possible--I've never had to use anyone else's computer with iTunes before. I highly recommend trying to sort the situation with your own computer out first. Shersey

I personally believe that you could jailbreak with your friend's computer because the jailbreaking software doesn't use itunes. It just relys on itunes for the drivers... When itunes says "This iPhone is synced with another computer" just close it out and close itunes itself and just jump to the jailbreak software. Don't quote me on this, but it makes sense because when i jailbroke mine i just used Redsnow and nothing else... It says to make an itunes backup for if something goes wrong, and this would be the only thing you couldn't do without your computer. When i jailbroke, i didn't backup anyway because it was as simple as 1.2.3. and literally nothing can go wrong... Hope I make Sense, Nate

Hey Holly, AS has already been said, iTunes isn't an essential part of the jailbreak process nowadays. It's best to have a full backup just in case, and in some cases you'd need iTunes if you want to get rid of the jb and return to stock firmware. You could sign up for a free iCloud account, and use that to backup your contacts, calendar events and apps. Assuming the jailbreak process goes smoothly, you won't lose anything anyway, but doesn't hurt to have a backup. Should you want to return to stock firmware, you can try updating over the air from your iPhone 4 I guess. If that doesn't work (it didn't the last time I tried it on 5.1.1), your friend should be able to download the latest version of iOS and install it within her iTunes, then you can walk through the activation wizzard on the iPhone. You'd still be somewhat stuck when it came to getting music back on to the device though. Hth a bit... Scott

I always backup before jailbreaking using iTunes, because I have some apps that are no longer in the app store, or apps that I do not wish to have updated upon reinstall. If you backup to iCloud, when your apps begin reinstalling, the latest version will be downloaded, regardless of what version you previously had installed. This is a quote from Apple's "iCloud: Backup and Restore Overview" article: "Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore." Another statement, further down the page is: "A progress bar will appear underneath the apps that are being downloaded. To prioritize the restore of a specific app, tap its icon. Restore will attempt to download the same version of the app that you had installed previously. If that version is no longer available, the latest version of the app will be restored."
