What do you mean by "scanner"? Do you mean a public service radio frequency receiver, or do you mean an app to scan and read print material?

Hi,

I just read that ScanBee is free for today only.
ScanBee is a business scanning app, but has no OCR functionality.

You might try SayText, if it is OCR you want.

Kind regards,

Niall

Hello. If looking for a readio scanning app, 50 scanner, I think its called might be an app you're intrested in. If looking for a scanner to figure out canns, bottles, boxs, ETC, digit eyes might be it. Not sure when this app was last updated, but could be good. If looking to scan print, text detective is good. I use this app all the time. Plus, there is no need to send anything to servers as the scanning and translating is all done on the iPhone. KNFB reader is also a good app for this, but comes at a price. I've heared very good things about this app as well though.

Hello everybody!
I wonder scanners with OCR, which is free.

Hello.
I think say text might do the trick nicely. Not sure when it was last updated, but I belive it takes a picture, then sends it to the server to do the OCR there. So, you'll need an active internet connection.

I honestly haven't heard of a free OCR app for iOS that actually still does a decent job, but TextDetective isn't very expensive, and was able to do a decent job for me. I now have KNFB Reader, but that's obviously more expensive. Well worth the price though.

Hello,
I think a new app just got posted in the iOS pp directory that is free, and does ocr. Not sure how it does it, but I think it might be called voice. What I mean is, I am not sure if it does the OCR on the phone itself, or if it sends it to a server. Yes, its free. If you're still looking for a free OCR app, I might give this one a go.

Hi. If you read the discussion about the new voice app on this site, you will see that yes, it is free and for now it requires internet, but the developer is looking to find a way to make it so everything is done locally so that internet would not be needed.
