Hi All,
I've been a fan of YouPlayer for a long time but recently have been experiencing a lot of problems with it. As well as a few VoiceOver issues, I'm also experiencing strange behaviour such as a weird bug where half way through a video, it will suddenly rewind back to the start, very annoying!
So I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for alternative apps for YouTube?
There is another app also called YouPlayer but it costs €4.99 and hasn't been updated since July 2014 so I doubt that's gonna be any better. Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi,
Hi,
Try the native youtube app. It seems accessible from my POV.
Native YouTube App Fits the Bill for Me
Hello Dave,
I agree with Justin's recommendation of the native YouTube app. For what I need it to do--search for videos, sort the results by upload date, and then play videos--the native YouTube app works well.
ProTube
I would like the native youtube app better if it didn't have as many focus issues as it does, very often VO's focus gets either trapped somewhere or completely skips items. You also have to keep the screen on for videos to play, and it has ads. Yeah, I got used to not having them after running an ad blocker in my browser and other iOS apps that don't have them for 3 years :)
So, my current recommendation is an app called ProTube. There was another app with that name which was an offshoot of McTube that was also nice, but it has quite a few unlabeled buttons. The one I'm refering to costs $2.99 and is made by Jonas Gessner. Apart from doing all the usual stuff, the thing that made me look at it is that it has the ability to stream and play only the audio from videos, so you can save quite a lot of data this way. As far as accessibility, the important stuff reads, the main playback screen's controls to like, dislike, share, etc currently aren't labeled. However I got in touch with the developer and these will be fixed in the latest update. Also, I suggested that if subtitles on a video are enabled they get autoread by VO (so far, only the web html5 player does this), and this will probably also exist in the next versiojn.
Thanks
Thanks guys. I had tried the official YouTube app in the past and not liked it as much, but actually trying it again now it does seem pretty good overall.
If it doesn't work out then I'll try ProTube, thanks.
Youplayer
I use an app calledyouplayer. It has a ad strip on the bottom of the screen, but I went to heaven but the premium version to get rid of that. I'm pretty well satisfied with it, but I am going to try protuberant as well.
YouPlayer
I had used YouPlayer with few problems until recently. However, YouPlayer will no longer play all my Youtube favorites; it only seems now to allow 30 pages-worth. I have many more items than this in my favorites. the Youtube app works pretty well except that I'm having trouble deleting "deleted" videos from my favorites or other playlists (I have several). I only seem now to be able to delete videos with real names.
Bah humbug! Why can't someone get *everything* on an app to work successfully and seemlessly for more than a week? (grin)

Double tap and hold, then drag up
Double tap and hold on the last favorite, and when you hear the three beeps drag your finger up. Wait about five seconds and you will get 30 more. This is definitely a pain in the neck though! There's another app called ProTube which I was hoping would be better… But I still like you to better.
