I use ht recorder and or twisted wave. then i edit in ht recorder. It's not fancy but it works. You can also use boss jock if you want a smoother sound in your podcasts.

Thank you for your response, just asking if someone has different suggestion so one could perhaps choose different road. Many thanks to everyone.

Hi I use several but give some options.
Record Voice Memos to Dropbox
The price is couple dolares but it worth.
The description using voiceOver is:
Double tap Start recording
. Triple -tap to pause.
Double tap to stop. Uploads to Dropbox automatically. It's that simple.
Unlimited recording and not restriction time.
great audio record quality.
• Accessible with VoiceOver for the visually impaired.
The only issue from my part is in order to upload the audio recorders require Wifi connection.
The link from the app Store is right below:

Other app that you could use is
AudioBoom
this app is free but there some restrictions
You could record up to 10 minutes for the free version
Request create account to record
and the audio sound quality is awesome.

Hello, and thanks again for suggestion. So if I understand you, you recommend the dropvox application, which uploads it directly to dropbox. But can I use it to make a podcast? And if so, how do I share that podcast with the world? Any other suggestions?

Ok, in this case you would need transmit or somethingn to upload to ftp like boos joc. You can do live podcasting with carts and all of that stuff.
