VO and Dictation

macOS and Mac Apps

Hi All,

I am experiencing an issue with my brand new MacBook Pro... I use VO and want to use the dictation too... I have enables all the required options (using one of your podcasts)... I press Fn twice to start dictating MacOS does execute the instruction (i.e. opening an app) ; the problem is that it looks like VO is deactivated and I have to restart it manually each time I dictate a command !? I finish any dictation by pressing Fn once...

I don't think it's a normal behavior in the sense that the podcast I used to enable the dictation seems to show a normal response of VO after a dictated command...

Any clue / hint ? Thanks for your help.

it's what I was doing. But anyway, I got it! Apparently you have to reboot your Mac after enabling the dictation to get it working. Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Just to share my experience with other new Mac users...

The pronlem I encountered when using the dictation with VO was linked to the time I took to press Fn after dictation... i.e.:
1. Press Fn Fn the say "open safari"
2. Then QUICKLY press Fn again...

If step 2 is not performed fast enough, VO will not read the safari window and you might have the feeling that it does not work. It is for sure due to the fact that dictation disable VO when it is on...

Maybe obvious for some, but I think it could help some new Mac users...
