Hi folks,
I am looking for an RSS reader for my phone. I was recently alerted to a breach which effected me, and frankly, I just don't have the time anymore to read the stuff on the PC like I'd like. I still use the PC, but I'm wondering if there is an RSS reader I can use for the phone? One of the feeds I follow covers breaches, hacks, and other things that interest me. I did find the info on the RSS I was looking for, through a search in the reader I use, but wanted to find out about the phone. Whats out there? What do you use? Thanks.

Several Options
Hello J.R.,
There are at least a few good, accessible RSS readers for the iPhone.
My personal favorite is Feeddler RSS Reader Pro 2, because I like the layout and because it also allows one to read the full text of articles. (I'm also experiencing some issues getting full-text view to work reliably, but I'm not sure if this is because of the service I'm using--Feedly--or a problem with the app itself.) Others, however, really like Newsify: Your News, Blog & RSS Feed Reader and Newsify also offers the option to view articles in full-text. Lastly, lire (Full-text RSS) has very good VoiceOver support and also provides articles in full-text. Newsify is free, Feeddler 2 (do not download the older Feeddler) has a free version of the app available, and lire is paid.
Looking for a good rss reader
There's also another one that I discovered by accident that has excellent VoiceOver support and is free. It's called, Bwrss. When you want to subscribe to the rss feed of your favorite pages, just find the rss link and double tap and hold. When the actions menu appears, copy that link to your clipboard on the device. Once your within BWRSS, double tap the add button. Once there, delete what's in the edit box when you double tap that edit box. Now, make sure that you paste the new rss feed you want to subscribe too. Then double tap add. Then, it will take you back to your main list of rss feeds if you have subscribed to alot of them. Do take note, that some rss feeds mayh not be able to be subscribed too because of how they are pulled from webpages.
thanks for the updates
Hi Mike and music man. i'm curious if I got the http links to the feeds i already have if the programs you mention will allow me to take them and add them that way? Newsify sounds interesting and so does feedly. Feedler does too. Free would be best, although, I don't mind paying a low cost for something that works. Thanks, gang.
some thoughts
I've looked at the descriptions of all of the apps submitted here since my last update. Do any of the apps offer me to enter the feed URL's I already have in thunderbird that I want to read on my phone? I like the idea that BW has where it downloads the articles for you. Would I be able to delete what I've read already in any of these as well?
BW RSS
I'm taking a look at BW RSS which music man recommended and it is a simple app. I can't find a way to delete an article I've already read as I test this app to determine which app I plan to use. I know Michael has recommended two apps, two paid, and one free, and I'm playing with the free ones to see how they work and what works for me. I'd like to have one that I can delete articles I'm done reading so they aren't in my list any more and I don't read them again. So far, from what I see from BW, it doesn't download the articles until you go in to the app, but again, I can't seem to delete the article once done reading. I can share it to my reading list which doesn't do anything, but it looks simple to add another feed. any other thoughts?
my favourite is feeddler pro.
my favourite is feeddler pro. very accessible and great app. you do not need to know the url. just type the key word and add the feeds.
newsify and adding feeds
It looks like with newsify, I put in the web site, and it brings up all of the feeds. I select the one I want, and it brings them all in. Tons of options, and it does seem to have an auto update feature where the default is checking every 8 hours, although it will check on startup. Please keep the comments in, like I said, the other two are $4.95 which is not bad, but I don't know what apple's refund policy is when you don't like something, so I'm caucious on buying something just to find out I don't like it. Thanks again, gang.
Maybe Free RSS Reader?
Hi Jared, just noticed this thread and thought you might be interested in an app I've been using for the last 3 months. It's called Free RSS Reader. I am using it on my iPad but I think they have an iPhone version as well. VoiceOver support is OK and the app is quite easy to use. Hope this helps, despite the late reply.
