Braille on Apple Products

I'm hoping some of you can help. I've been blind for a couple years now. I have never learned Braille. I would like to teach myself. I would just like another tool to add to my arsenal, in making sure I stay as independent as possible. Can you guys recommend best all-around Braille teaching app. I would like to learn alphabet, numbers, punctuation. Thanks for any advice given- Jeremy

There is an app called type braille or Learn braille. It will help you, but it will not replace hands on learning so to speak. You can search on this site for it.

Hi Jeremy. I found an app called Pocket Braille by a developer called LMApps that I quite like. Like yourself I'm trying to learn now as an adult. I'd recommend getting some one-to-one tuition if at all possible, but apps like this are helpful. Good luck.

Thank you guys for the help. Dave82 are you finding it hard to learn as adult?
No worries. I'm finding it ok. I'm reasonably good at remembering the various symbols. I'm just very slow at actually reading it. Of course I should be practicing a lot more than I do!!
Hello, As Marsha said there may be some aps out there to assit in learning Braille but there is no substitute for working with an instructor who can monitor your practice with proper hand tracking which is the key to doing well in this aspect. the hadley school also teaches a Braille course but that also can be online. god luck I am happy to hear you are willing to put in the time to learn this valuable literacy system.

Hello Folks,
Sorry for bringing up an old post vut the quesstion asked by the original poster is exactly my question. Does anyone have anything further to add to this thread?
I searched for apps to assist with this challenge but have not found anything that sounds useful. Pocket Braille is still available but sounds a little limited.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
