Hi all. I am currently using an Iphone 5S, but am due for upgrade. So am looking at either the Iphone 6 or 6+. So was wondering if anyone who uses either of these devices could give me their thoughts on them. What are the pros and cons for either of them? Whichh is better/easier for someone with no sight to use? Are there any major difficultiees with either of them which I may encounter/need to know about? Sorry for all the questions, but any help/information/advice/opinions anyone using either of these devices could give me would be very much appreciated, as I want to be able to make as informed a decision as possible which is a sensible one and which will work for me.

Many thanks in advance.

Eleanor

if you are already using a 5-s and you have no issues with IOS you will be fine upgrading, the only thing is the size, if your hands are on the smaller side I would go for the 6, you should go in to someplace like a Apple store and hold one play with it, do what you normally do with your phone.

I still am using an iPhone 5. But I was in a Best Buy the other day and looked at both the iPhone 6 and 6+. To my way of thinking, the 6+ isn't all *that* much bigger than the 6 so I'd go for the 6+ as it has somewhat better sound and quite a bit better battery capacity.

When i got my 6, I did not hold a 6 plus. I was already surprised at how much bigger it was than the iPod 4 it was replacing. Once I got used to the size, i am surprised how tiny my iPod is when I use it. I have since held a friend's 6 plus, and it's not that much bigger than my phone. I'm still happy with my choice. It's plenty big enough, and I can use it all day and rarely be less than 80 percent battery. I'm not a gamer, and I don't use it a whole lot. I can see where someone who uses the device more, or uses GPS a lot, would benefit from the bigger battery.

If cost is an issue, definitely go for the 6. You will enjoy a faster experience, much better battery life, and yes, the phone is bigger but not so big that you won't have any problems. I held it for a few seconds and could immediately tell I was going to like it.

hi. i have the 6, but in some ways, i wish i got the plus. never the less, i love the 6. but it really comes down to personal things. such as hand size. for example, i know a few people, that the 6 plus is just too big for their hands, and they simply can't use it well. so for them, the 6 is the best. but if you have bigger hands, a 6 plus is fine. battery life, if that's super important to you, i'd say grab the 6 plus. and on top of that, adding a battery case for example, to the 6 plus, will give you a totally awesome battery life.
in terms of any difference for a blind user? none really. the screen is bigger, so if you don't like larger blank spots on the screen, don't get it. if this doesn't worry you, then no probs.
the other advantage to the 6 plus, is the split screen function, when in landscape, much like an iPad.
so truely, the whole thing comes down to this. go and have a hold of one, and see how the 6 plus feels. if it feels ok, grab it. if not, get the 6. there is no difference in terms of CPU, memory, performance, excepting perhaps the slightly higher speed of the graphics to drive the screen of the 6 plus. other then that, it's down to what feels good in your hand.
good luck with your choice.

Thanks for all the useful info guys. I am very tempted by the 6+. The screen size doesn't worry me particularly as I'm used to an Ipad mini, but am also intending on using a bluetoothh keybboard with my phone. I assume yoou can get them for the 6 or 6+. The one I have for my 5S forms the phone's case, so that's the type of thing I'm after.

Hi Eleanor,

I absolutely love my iPhone 6 Plus. However, like others here, I recommend visiting your local carrier/Apple store to see one in person before you make a purchase.

For me, the big "draw" of the iPhone 6 Plus was the battery life. For the first time, I find myself going through the day and not having to worry at all about how much battery I have remaining. It's a liberating feeling, for sure.

I'm not sure whether you use Braille, but if so, you'll also find Braille input on the iPhone 6 Plus is quite nice in Tabletop Mode. With the larger screen of the 6 Plus, it's possible to orient one's fingers straight down the screen as one would using a Perkins Braillewriter.

The only disadvantage to the 6 Plus, depending on how you want to carry and store the device, is that it doesn't fit into all pockets. That certainly isn't an issue for everyone, but nevertheless it's worth mentioning to any prospective iPhone 6 Plus buyer.

I went from a 4s to a 6 plus. I had read Michael Hansen's comments about the larger screen and agreed with him. For a couple of days, when making phone calls, I thoughtthe 6 plus was a bit large to hold. Well, I got over that. The added battery life is definitely a plus as I use GPS. A big difference for me is that I found it mutch easier to rearrange my apps with the larger screen. I just made a mess with the 4s. Michael, thank you for the Braille writing comments. I have a Braille app and didn't like useing it before. I will try table top with my 6 plus.

Hello Eleanor. I am answering a bit late here. When me and my wife went to the sprint store we only could see the 6. I loved the phone. it was very responsive and worked really well. Well we ordered the 6 plus as we were told it was not that much bigger and they did not have them in stock. When we got our phones though I fell in love with it instantly. As people say the screen is a bit bigger but to me it makes it easier to find apps once you understand the layout. The battery life is amazing. I also love the sound quality of it. It works well with a bluetooth keyboard as I am using a logitech solar powered one that connects to 3 devices. I can hole it fairly easy and have average sized hands. I have not messed around with it much but it does have the reachability feature which makes it easier to tap the icons on the screen. It is activated by touching, not tapping the home button, twice. It makes a sweeping sound. It turns off after about 6 or so seconds. It will make another sweeping type sound when done. As others have said though try and test drive both as it were.

Thanks so muchh for all your advice/help everyone. The 6+ certainly sounds good, especially where the battery life and sound quality are concerned. I have felt both, so am aware of the sizes. Also reassuring to know that the 6+ works with bluetooth keyboard. Can anyone recommend a good bluetoothh keyboard? Preferably I'd like one that forms the phone's case, like the one I have for my 5S does. Any ideas, particularly with regard to the 6+?

Unfortunately I don't believe there are any keyboard style cases for the 6 plus yet, I think there are some for the 6 but none for the plus yet.
Its quite annoying as I two would like a keyboard style case for my 6 plus but the manufacturers don't seem in any hurry to produce them, I guess because maybe the 6 is smaller and I believe a bit more popular so maybe that's where the money is.
I guess also maybe smaller dimensions mean its easier to adapt existing models.

Hi. I have had the 6 Plus for nearly 2 months now and I love the battery life. I no longer have the need to purchase an iPad as I'm enjoying the larger screen to view Youtube and the BBC iPlayer with it's new audio description catogory. I use What'sApp quite a bit and wish I had a keyboard case for the phone but sadly manufacturers are not making one at this time.

Yes, that is a great shame, as I know many visually-impaired people who use that type of case with their phone as it makes things even easier for them. Something manufacturers definitely should think about.

On another point, with regard to the Iphone 6, do people think there's been much improvement in the battery life of the 6 compared to the 5 or not?

Hi Eleanor,

I own a 6plus. I absolutely love it.
I too wish they would make keyboard cases as it would make things like e-mail far easier.
I can do nearly everything related to my job on my phone.
I love that part, along with the amazing battery life!

Hi all

Thanks so much for all your help, which has been invaluable! Went to my phone provider and have decided to go with the 6, purely because of the size and the fact they make keyboard cases for them. But just a couple of questions.

First, can anyone recommend a good external batery that I can use with my 6 so I can prolong the use of my phone when I'm out/away from a power source??

Secondly, has anyone got any ideas or good recommendations for keyboard cases for the 6? Any particularly good makes that anyone knows of? (need it to be robust as well as a keyboard!).

Thanks.
