Hi. I got an iPhone 6. I have a few questions. What's the difference between the standard or zoom view in the display settings and reachability? With reachability, once you double tap the touch id censer to turn it on, will it stay on until you double tap the censer again or will it sometimes turn itself off. I have also noticed a noise when I turn it off or on, but can't tell if the off and on sounds are the same or different. Anyone know? Also, what is Home Kit? Has anyone noticed that the touch id only works sometimes? I followed the instructions to set it up, but most times when I go to unlock my phone, it fails to recognize my finger 5 times, then forces me to enter my password. I am using the same finger to unlock the phone as I did to set up touch id in the first place. Restarting the phone and deleting and redoing the finger print did not help.

Hi!
Hi!
I have an iPhone 5s, that sometimes has the fingerprint issues. I've found out that sweaty fingers do not work at all or barely with the finger print reader, so, try to dry your finger that you use for the pass cold unlock feature deal. I don't know much about the reachability feature, as it is not a part of my phone, but I believe that once it is on, it will stay on until you turn it off. I might be wrong on this, don't quite me, as i haven't listened to the podcast on apples in a while. There's a podcast about reachability on the iPhone 6, or 6 plus, can't remember which, but it should apply on here. HTH.

Okay, let's see how we go here.
The zoomed display mode is supposed to offer larger text and controls and the standard display mode is supposed to show more content. From what I can tell, the difference doesn't seem that big, so I just leave it on standard.
Reachability automatically turns off after a delay (about 8 seconds) regardless of whether or not you interact with the screen. The activation and deactivation sounds for reachability sound the same to me.
Home Kit is an API that makers of home automation products can use to integrate with iOS devices. Home Kit isn't something that the average person will use as home automation is generally a luxury many people probably can't justify spending money on.
I haven't noticed a problem with touch ID at all. I use it daily and haven't once had my phone refuse to recognize my fingerprint 5 times in a row, except when I wanted to see what would happen if my fingerprint wasn't recognized after multiple attempts. When I setup my fingerprint, I physically rotated my phone and finger so I could record my fingerprint in all sorts of improbable but possible rotations.
finger print
Hold your finger on the scanner for about a second and a half. It is not instantaneous
Training
There is a way to over train your Touch ID. Since doing so, I have a much better recognition rate.
Go to Settings.
Open Touch ID
Enter your passcode
This screen has 5 slots for fingers. Don't tap on them. Just leave the screen as it opened.
If you touch a previously trained finger and it is recognized, Voice Over will announce which slot it was, such as "Finger One." You can touch again and again, slowly rotating he section of your finger that is scanned. If you move too much too fast, you will fail to get a scan. As long as you keep touching and expanding the recognition area, you are adding to the phone's ability to recognize you.
If you only use one finger to open your phone, you can train, and over train, each of the 5 slots to help you get more consistent results.
I have spent a little time with this. Yeah, it's boring, but it has been worth it. I now only ever fail to have a successful touch if, as was mentioned before, my fingers are damp or sweaty.
Training
Thank you all for this topic. My iPhone 6 plus stopped recognizing my fingerprint about two days after I got it. Just haven't taken the time to figure out what to do about it. Will work on this first chance I get.
Over training
Ok. Thank you. I will try the over training thing. How or where did you learn about this? Also, I think I have fixed the problem. I noticed touch id worked fine when I had no case. Then I got an otterbox defender and touch id quit. So I removed the part of the case that covered the touch id and now it works again. However, I will try the over training thing anyhow. I also never touch my iPhone or other electronic devices with wet or dirty hands so that's not the problem.
home automation
What exactly is it? What does it do?
Home automation is something
Home automation is something that allows a home to have certain systems that are controlled by the phone or certain control device. It allows a thermostat to be controlled by your phone. It's basically your house with certain systems being controlled automatically.
