Voiceover focus

Okay I'm really struggling with something that's been happening the last few days. i'll explain it to issues, but first I will just say I think for some reason the focus on my voiceover is not following what is being spoken if that makes sense. tonight I wanted to write an iMessage so I brought up my table of recent conversations went to the persons name and just started typing like it said but rather than send the message to the person voiceover just read to me it send it to someone else the cursor would not move down to the conversation it was actively showing me if that makes any sense. So for example it was saying Matthews name but when I wrote the message it was sending to Paul and I don't know why. I went to create this topic on my Mac but for some reason I was having trouble getting to the messages box I just kept writing in the subject field finally I took the mouse cursor important it to the box and clicked so it jumped over then to my message box but I made an error and was not able to get down to edit that error I would navigate by character without quit navigation and I hit the backspace and it just dong like I wasn't even in a box. if anyone has any suggestions I would take them I feel pretty stupid I just don't know what's going on.
