I have files with different volumes in my music library. As a result, when listening to my iPod, I am constantly turning the Volume up and down and down and up again. Turning sound check on in my iPod settings as well as in iTunes has not helped at all. Is there an accessible app that will go through all my music files and make all there volumes the same without too much sound quolity loss?

RE: looking for an app to change volume of music files
I use GoldWave. I don't remember the price but it wasn't too expensive. I do not recommend adjusting volume on large batches, though. I recommend only adjusting a few files as you go.

TotalRecorder
I use TotalRecorder Professional from High Criteria, Inc.
Why not?
Why is batch processing not recommended? What will happen if I do. I have way too many files to even consider doing them a few at a time.
Sound Check
Does anyone know why the sound check setting has done nothing for me?
TotalRecorder
Is this a Mac or windows program?
TotalRecorder
It's a Windows program.
RE: Why not?
It's just that if you should try to do your entire music folder, for example, the results may not be what you were looking for. I realize that doing them a handful at a time would be quite time consuming, but, I wouldn't want to see your whole library messed up beyond repair. Of course one can do batch processing in GoldWave but I wouldn't personally recommend. You don't have enough control if you batch process. It's better to do an album or an artist at a time instead of your whole library. Then you can monitor the results and ensure that you are getting what you desire.
