Voiceover getting stuck when navigating in Chrome

Hello all:

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this issue. I'll explain myself:

When I open Chrome I used to use both the tab key and VoiceOver commands (CTL+Option+right/left arrows) to navigate through pages. Now this is not possible for me, just the tab key is working and this is not enough to get to some parts of webpages which are not focusable with the tab key. When I am on a page within Chrome and press VO+right or left arrow Voiceover gets trapped in the same element of the page and I just can get out of it by pressing the tab key. When I retry using the VoiceOver commands, same happens.

Any ideas?

Thank you so much.

Are you using a mac or is this on an IOS device with a bluetooth keyboard.

Yes, there have been a number of reports of significant issues when attemtping to use VoiceOver to access web content in Chrome under MacOS 10.10.x Yosemite. These same issues do not occur with the same build of Chrome running under OS 10.9 Mavericks.

If you have not already done so, I would urge you to post feedback to both Apple and Google. Feedback can be provided to Apple via email at accessibility@apple.com. Feedback to Google can be submitted using their issue reporting form as follows.

1. In Chrome, go to chrome://help.

2. Navigate to the link labeled "feedback, report an issue," activate that link. This will open an accessible feedback form.

3. Fill in the feedback form, include the term "a11y" somewhere in the message, provide as much detail as possible about what you are attempting to do, what you expect the results to be, what results you are actually experiencing, an exact list of steps the Google support person can use to replicate your issue, and then submit the form.

I was actually looking for something else on here but came upon this post, and thought I'd respond. First off, if you're not already on it there is an email discussion list for accessibility issues with all Google products. To subscribe to it send a blank message to
accessible+subscribe@googlegroups.com .
By default the group messages are sent in Digest mode at least for me, and I think you have to go to the new Google Groups page in order to change that. Unfortunately this page doesn't appear to be that easy to use in terms of accessibility at this time, but I just wanted to point out this option. I have both Google Chrome and Safari and am still using the latest build of Mavericks. I'm using Chrome to type this reply and it's working just fine. So no I haven't seen the issue described here.
