Keeping in mind that Audio Ducking, the new and fabulous feature that apple introduced with the release of IOS 8.1, is set to on.

I am on a call with my bank on the phone. Everyone knows how friendly the banks are these days and that is exactly why they put you through the IVR system, where you are required to maze through options that best help meet your querry.

This herculean task in most parts of the planet is done by punching a combination of numbers on the keypad. Now, this is exactly where I have a problem.

With the iPhone away from my ear, fully aware that the keypad is in focus and I am on speaker mode, I am trying to punch in the number options. VoiceOVer is as silent as a child. So putting my spidey senses at work, I with my telepathic gifts, punch in the number combinations. So what exactly is the point of adding this extra fabolous setting called Audio Ducking in the new IOS release? I fail to understand. And this stunt was done in a quiet environment, I would imagine the hell I would go through if I was to attempt this in the bus I take to commute to work.

Could you explain how audio ducking comes into play in your scenario?

It is worth noting that this feature is not new in iOS 8. It has always existed, for as long as I've used iOS anyway. What changed is that Apple added an option in the rotor which lets you turn the feature off. Before, it was always on, and there was no way to get rid of it.

Having said that, I have run into an occasional issue where the audio ducking does not behave correctly. Turning VoiceOver off and back on corrects the ducking behavior. If your problem is that the ducking isn't happening when it should be, then this might help you.

Well isn't it human for me to expect Audio Ducking to work so that I can hear my keypad a bit louder? I mean what is the point of having a feature that is actually not functional but just another item you can add to your rotar. I am going to try your suggestion; but I am sure by the time I did it the call request would time out and the good lady from the bank will throw me out of the system.

Wish me luck!
