Hello all,
I just upraded my Iphone 5C to IOS 8.0.2, and I’m experiencing an annoying bug with Whatsapp. The app will often close down without a reason, mostly when I swipe one finger left or right to scroll the chats, but it also happens when I’m typing, sending a message etc, and needless to say, what I was typing gets deleted!
Sometimes it takes me a long time before I even manage to open the chat I want.
It’s really crazy! I’ve tried reinstalling Whatsapp but the problem is still there.
Has anyone experienced this? I’ve reported the bug to Apple. They are the best with accessibility issues, but I realize new OS take time to stabilize. I wish I had waited some more to upgrade!
Thanks for reading
Fran

whatsapp bug
Same here. whatsapp often crushes.
no known workaround here
Hi,
Yes, it's a persistent bug, and there isn't any workaround, as far as I know. Unfortunately, I have experienced the same bug in the next incoming whatsapp upgrade... it is in beta stages, so, hope tthey are going to fix it soon...
definitely a bug
We all may want to see if we can contact the whats app team and let them know this is happening. anyone gotten ahold of them?
Thank you
Thank you for all the responses. It's good to know I'm not alone. Now I wonder: is this an issue that Whatsapp developers or IOS developers should try and fix?
One note on my previous post: when Whatsapp closes after pressing the send button, the text that I was trying to send actually does not get deleted! People receive it and reply to it, but I don't see it in the chat (nor sighted people). It looks as if it isn't there...Stranger still :)
Thanks again
Fran
Hi all,
Hi all,
Upgraded to 8.1 yesterday on my 4S and facing the same issue with WhatsApp. I wrote an email to WhatsApp support. just got an automated reply with a complain number. No further updates yet.
By the way, whose problem is it? apple's or WhatsApp's?
Please provide me the contact details of apple accessability team so that I can report it there too.
thanks.
Reply from Whatsapp
Hello, the Whatsapp team has recently replied to me saying they were aware of the problem and hope to fix it in the next update of Whatsapp. I guess it is a compatibility issue between Voiceover and the app, so the 2 companies should work out a solution together, I guess.
I got the same thing
I also contacted them to report the issue and they said they were working on it, but couldn't give me a timeframe for when it would be fixed. However, I have spoken to non-VoiceOver users who are experiencing the same issue, so so it may not be anything to do with VO or VO compatibility.
Voiceover compatibility?
Thanks Ali. I too heard a non-voiceover user complain about problems with Whatsapp, however I still think Voiceover contributes to the issue. If most users were experiencing this annoying bug, I imagine it would have been fixed already :(
