offer of free promo codes for a music playing app

Hi all, I just thought I would post here because over the past few months I have been working very closely with the developer of a music playing app for the iPhone called golden ear, the app supports lossless music playback, meaning formats such as flac, ape wav etc, but it also supports mp3 and m4a as well.
The developer has completely redesigned the user interface for this latest update and has really gone to a lot of trouble to ensure the app remains VoiceOver accessible, even building in VoiceOver hints to some buttons and adding in some rather useful features to make the app easier for VoiceOver users to use.
This morning the update went live on the app store, and the developer has written to me offering me promo codes for anyone who is interested in trying it out.
the app is also listed on applevis for anyone wanting to read the official description.

Hello. I would love to give this a try. I'm a musician and I've been looking for an accessible app that will play different types of audio files. Just wondering if you have any promo codes left. You can email me at blindjoemusic@gmail.com. Thx. :)

I will get on to the developer and ask him to generate codes for those who are interested and then message them to you privately through applevis, I am waiting a little while before doing so to give people time to respond as I don't want to keep messaging him for codes, though he did say he would give me as many codes as I want, though obviously I am not going to abuse this offer.

Greetings. Put me down as a solid "me too" with the promo code. I'm a musician, and have a nice sound system. I'd love to try something with the option of better quality output.

This sounds like a very interesting app and I'd love to try it out if there are still promo codes available. I use an iPhone 4s and an iPad Air and would love to see if the app will work on both devices. It's great to hear about developers that take such an interest in making their apps so user friendly to those of us who use voiceover.

I have sent out codes to most people who have requested them, Unfortunately I can't send one to Mario because I can't find a contact link on his applevis profile, I have one code left.

The developer welcomes emails and feedback from people with ideas, he also maintains a public bug tracker for problems with the app.

Hi there. It would be cool to test this app, especially if it's accessible and sounds good so could you please send a promo code my way as well if it isn't too late that is?

By alex wallis on Monday, November 24, 2014 - 16:23

Last promo code has just been sent out, though I suppose if there is interest I can try to get some more, but I don't want to take advantage of the developer, after all he has got to make money from this app lol.
It would be nice if those who I have given codes to could leave comments in the app directory entry or even better post some reviews on the app store.
The developer is always happy to help, so any problems just contact him first before posting any negative reviews on the app store.

Do have an electronic music degree so am qualified to test this out to see if it's legit. I am dubious about high-res audio though, especially on IOS hardware. Snake oil for idiots

James true audio wouldn't be good on iPhone or ipad speakers, they are rubbish compared to competition, but you can get nice headphones, and unfortunately out of promo codes, as for it being "legit" the app actually works, and I am not sure if I feel like getting you a code the way you constantly attack me and are negative in any topics I contribute to, I don't go for flac for good sound quality I go for flac because its future proof and usually an exact cd rip so it means if you want to convert to other formats later your not throwing away data, because you have the files in a lossless format and as we know transcoding from lossy formats is seriously not a good idea, useful for archive purposes.
Also as I said the developer has to make money really the app is only a few pence if I remember right, nothing to stop you paying out if your that curious its not like he's asking for £10 or £20 is it? the guy has to make a living, also the app does support mp3 and m4a as I stated in the app description, I am trying to get him to add other formats. and one nice thing with this app is that the flac playback is properly gapless no noticeable gaps or anything between tracks, so many players out there say they are gapless and then are not I can always detect split second gaps with other players.

Now i've got the promo code, thanks for that, but i don't know how to redeem it, this is the first time i've used this on IOs, so thankful for any help regarding this.

I would love a promo code as well if you have any more.

By alex wallis on Monday, November 24, 2014 - 16:23

Sorry all out of codes at the moment, I was only given 5 codes.

I would ask for one, how ever I feel I'm too late to the thread. Plus I would not be able to leave a review in the ios app store. This has been the case for 2 years now. If the app does ftp like vlc used to do before it got pulled then yeah I'll try it out and maybe submit a review to either apple vis, my podcast, or both depending on what little time I have. I might even live stream a review. I love doing those.

Blessings all.

By alex wallis on Monday, November 24, 2014 - 16:23

Hi, the app does allow for ftp transfer of files to and from it, Krister I have sent you a message explaining how to redeem codes.

Not interested in a fight, said my bit in the email so deal with it

Nice nice. I think but I'm" not sure I have the app in my wish list. i've hear good things about it from the review someone did on apple vis.

Actually what I meant by ftp was this.

log in via ftp to let's say your computer using vlc for ios from someware else and stream music from your computer using ftp. I did this when it existed. Now that it has been pulled Im not sure the's anothr ulternative.

Take care.

By alex wallis on Monday, November 24, 2014 - 16:23

Oh no the app doesn't do that, its not a streaming app ftp is a method to transfer files to and from the app in this case.

By KE7ZUM on Monday, November 24, 2014 - 16:23

Oh well. I guess I'll keep keeping an ear on the app so to speak. Maybe that can be implemented as vlc was pulled and it looks like it was apple that did it not vlc this time around.

Take care.

By alex wallis on Monday, November 24, 2014 - 16:23

Hi, it sounds like the app you might want to try is called vlc streamer, hope that's useful for you, if you search for vlc on the appstore you get quite a lot of results.

By Neo on Monday, November 24, 2014 - 16:23

Hi Alex, I'd also be intrested in trying this out. Thanks
