Hello,
I'm looking for someone who is familiar with both android and iPhone. I am texting my friend who has an android. I have an iPhone 5s running 8.1.
We are trying to text in cyrilic. When I write cyrilic to her, she can read it fine. However, when she texts me in cyrilic, the phone shows only ?s. And someone told me that it was showing up that way on the screen as well as in voice over. Could someone help me figure out what's happening? thanks so much.

one more thing
When we write regular latin letters, everything works fine. no issue there. Problem seems to be cyrilic.
I don't know
I don't really know what cyrylic is. Can someone explain?
test with VO turned on or off
test with VO turned on or off. But do not look at the VO result. Instead look at the screen result. If the result is wrong in both of those situations then the problem is not VO related and should be forwarded to Apple mainstream support folks.
on and off doesn't matter
It is showing up as question marks with vo turned off as well. Apple mainstream support doesn't seem to know what to do. Cyrilic is russian letters, like "Пока" (goodbye in Russian). I am trying to read these letters on my iPhone when she texxts me, but only question marks show up.
I guess it's an encoding problem.
I think this kind of problem generally stems from differences between letter encoding schemes used. iPhone and Android doesn't seem to handle Cyrilic letters in the same encoding scheme. Android seems to support both encoding schemes of Cyrilic to display your message correctly, but iPhone doesn't seem to support that used in Android. I remember I saw this problem in other language with email app. The problem has gone with iOS update long time ago.
