Hi all,
For those of you with iOS 8, has anyone tried Choice of Games? Have you gotten very far with them?
If you're me, probably not, because I can't get past the first screen. In Heroes Rise: The Prodegy, for instance, I can't select how I want to save the piolet in the first chapter. It appears to be acting exactly as it is on android, which is not a good experience.
For those of you who can see the screen with VO off, can you please confirm it's not a VoiceOver issue? I doubt it, because I believe I know where next is, I press it and nothing.
Thanks all. Trying to tell CoG what the issue is, as they either are ignoring it or don't know exactly what the problem is. It has been happening since the betas, but I guess there isn't enough blind people in the developer program who tests who also plays these games.

this is only reason I can't bring myself to take IOS8 plunge
I wonder if this needs to be reported to choice of games so they can update every individual app to be IOS8 compatible, or if the problem is just within IOS8's VoiceOver. In talking to people on twitter, one has had the exact experience you're having, and another said that the next button worked, but the radio buttons didn't.
I also can't help being curious if using an IPhone 6 or 6 plus would make any kind of difference. In any case, no matter how curious I am to update, I can't bring myself to do so because of this problem. Although, if I did, maybe I'd be able to more easily report it? I just don't know. It's sort of silly for this to be my primary deal breaker, but it kind-a is. I will definitely be trying to keep tabs on this thread to see if/when anything changes.
just a follow-up
I ended up deciding to update to IOS8 anyway, and I'm not sure what to say about this most peculiar problem. I've been chatting with some folks on twitter, and gotten a bit more feedback, which made me curious to try things out for myself. At one point, we tried to engage ChoiceOfGames in the conversation, but they weren't prepared to comment, and no advice was offered on how best to report these issues to them. Anyway, here are my findings, for what they're worth.
The games are most definitely not working as expected; not even close. Radio buttons are separate from their text, which is annoying but could be dealt with if it was the only issue. Unfortunately, the problem is more than just cosmetic/getting used to a new way of reading things. In my testing of Life of a Mobster, I had a very tough time selecting the radio button I wanted. With enough trial and error, though, I was finally able to select one and with further trial and error, I managed to get the next button to activate. So, IMO, this is probably not a ChoiceOfGames problem, although if they ever do update their apps, it might make some difference. I honestly believe that this is primarily part of the focus issues that IOS8 seems to be having. So, in essence, the games are somewhat playable in theory, but are by no means pleasurable.
Thank you for the report
I play Choice Of Games works all of the time so will not be touching the release. I think you are indeed correct, the focus issues are the problem, not the games themselves. They are just glorified webpages and scripts rapped in a bundle, nothing amazing from a technical standpoint if you see what I mean.
an update on ChoiceOfGames issue
Hi, all. I don't know if anyone else is even interested in this topic, but just in case they are, I have two pieces of frustrating news. Bad news number 1: the ChoiceofGames are still broken under IOS 8.0.2. Same annoying separation of radio buttons from their text, same inability to actually select radio buttons without a bunch of scrolling and same inability to select the next button without even more scrolling.
Frustration 2: choiceofGames has just released a new game called Yeti's parole officer. I have purchased this game because it sounds like it would be a lot of fun, but sadly, it suffers from the same problems as all other IOS games.
I still firmly believe, though, that the problem is on Apple's end, but I'm not sure what the best way to go about reporting it would be. Any suggestions would be appreciated, and I think anyone who might be reading this and who loves the ChoiceofGames as much as I do needs to find a way to report this issue to Apple.
updating and game troubles
Hello there,
I would suggest waiting on updating to IOS 8.0 versions.
Lots of things as far as games are currently broken. Moving to an iPhone 6 or 6Plus will have the same issues. I think it is an IOS 8 problem.
I would leet eh developer of any IOS games which are no longer working under the IOS 8 platform. The games are probably not just broken for us, but others as well.
8.1.1 fixes VoiceOver in Choice of Games
As the title says, it seems that iOS 8.1.1 fixes the VoiceOver bug that was giving everyone so much grief.
Thanks for your patience!
