Amazon app for iOS eight running on iPhone six

Hi all: I am writing to inquire if anyone is experiencing problems with the Amazon app running iOS eight.? It appears this app is less than accessible with voiceover. The buy, Move to wish list, cart, and other buttons do not work. When I triple tap, or double tap on these items, nothing happens. Of course, I have written to the developers of this app, with no results. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.? If so, is there anything that can be done? Or is this an issue that will have to be resolved in a future Amazon app update. Any suggestions/info would be much appreciated.

This is due to the iOS 8 bug where the page doesn’t automatically scroll to follow the movement of VoiceOver focus. If this results in focus moving to an item that is not being visually displayed on the screen (such as these buttons in the Amazon app), no amount of double-tapping will get them to do anything.

The workaround for now is to use the 3-fingered swipe up/down to move the page so that the desired controls are visually present on screen and then locate them by touch. A double-tap should now work.

I am having the same problem, but I don't think the issue is with Amazon this time. Voiceover is not activating some buttons in IOS 8. As an example of what I'm talking about, try the following.

Open contacts.
Go to a contact.
Tap the share contact button.
Choose message as the way to share.
Enter a phone number or contact that you want to share this contact with.
Now, try to send the message. Nothing happens.

Voiceover can't activate this send button. It can send regular text messages, but there's something different about this screen's send button. I've got a few other apps that used to work in IOS 7 that no longer work in 8. In each case, a button is involved. I have reported this to accessibility@apple.com. Others need to report it too.

In the case of the send button, there is no scrolling up or down that needs to be done. The button just won't activate. Underlying issue may be the same though.

Michael, in this case, using the 3-fingered swipe to move the desired controls onto the page and then locating them by touch does work.

The problem that you describe is unrelated, and is specific to initiating a new message from the Share menu in another app. When doing this, the Send button does not work with VoiceOver.

I've had the same problem in the Amazon app but haven't yet tried the three finger swipe however reading posts on Facebook and replies here, I think that will be a temporary fix for that issue.

One issue I still haven't found a fix for is the "buy now" & "Add to basket" buttons also not working in Safari on the Mac. I've read many posts on Facebook who are also experiencing the same problem using different screen readers such as Jaws so I'm assuming this must be a problem with the Amazon website?

Jaws users have managed to find a temporary fix however I haven't yet come across a solution for Mac with VoiceOver.

Thanks,
