Update 2: Apple has just pulled the iOS 8.0.1 update, and it is no longer available for download. (Via Mac Rumors.
Update 1: It appears that the loss-of-cellular-service and Touch ID issues with iOS 8.0.1 are limited to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, according to Mac Rumors.
Just over a week after releasing iOS 8, Apple today has released iOS 8.0.1 to the public with various bug fixes and improvements.
The iOS 8.0.1 release notes, via 9 to 5 Mac, list the following improvements:
"This release contains improvements and bug fixes, including:
• Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store
• Addresses an issue where 3rd party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode
• Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library
• Improves the reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
• Fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages
• Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases
• Fixes an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups
• Fixes a bug that prevented uploading photos and videos from Safari"
While iOS 8.0.1 brings a host of bug fixes, the 9 to 5 Mac article goes on to note that many users are experiencing issues with the cellular and Touch ID functions of their devices. At this time, we are unable to independently confirm the authenticity of these reports, but they do appear to be making the rounds on other Apple-focused news sources--as well as on Twitter.
While there are no VoiceOver improvements mentioned in the release notes, and while it is likely too early in the iOS 8 update cycle to see any accessibility-specific bug fixes, please do let us know in the comments if you notice any changes to VoiceOver.
iOS 8.0.1 is available via Over-the-Air Update or iTunes for all devices which can run iOS 8.

Update iOS 8
Yet I check for any update. Got message your software is update.
iOS update
I also checked for this update and got a message after double tapping the install button it said that the update could not be verified.
There is no update
Apple has pulled the update. IT is no longer available.
IOS 8.01
I got the update and using it now. the diaper bug seems to have been fixed. This is the only bug that I can verify that has been resolved. I haven't had time to really test it as I had class.
Thanks
Diaper or dialer
do you mean diaper or dialer? And how do you know its fixed because it does occur at random?
I'm glad to know my iPhone
I'm glad to know my iPhone can supply Huggies thank God the diaper bug has been fixed. it was starting to smell thanks Apple.
IOS 8.01
My apologies, that would be auto correct.
I was able to replicate it quite easily on IOS 8.0 and I haven't been able to do that on IOS 8.01 so I'm pretty convinced its been fixed.
What do I do since the update was pulled?
Hi everyone.
I was able to download the update apparently just before or just as Apple was about to withdraw it. I cannot install it now, but when I go into settings, it still says "one update available." Since the update obviously won't install, what can I do to get rid of it?
Thanks,
Becky Manners
RE: What Do I Do?
Hi, I'm not sure if this will work, but try going to settings general usage, and delete the update there. I still have iOS 7, but that worked for me when I didn't want iOS 8. My settings still says one new item, but it told me to redownload the update at a later time if I wanted it
Somebody dropped the ball
I never thought I'd see the day when apple had to pull an update.
Guess all the people who overreacted and said apple hates blind people because of voiceover bugs can rest easy. Apple hates everyone, not just us blind folks.
It has happened before
Apple has pulled updates before, so this is not the first time, although I don't remember the last time it happened. They usually put out an update that fixes the bad update pretty quickly.
I think they were trying to rush the Health Kit fix since it is preventing apps from being released or updated in the App Store, and haste makes waste, as they say.
same thing happened to me
Hi. I downloaded the update before it was pulled, but did not install it. So I went to settings, general, usage and deleted the update. Strangely my iPhone informs me that there's one update available, but when I go to software update, it says my software is up to date. I guess we'll have to wait til iOS 8.0.2 comes out so all this can be fixed. Bet you there were probably some angry Apple employees. I would not want to be the one to have been responsible for that failed update.
