Accessibility Comments

VO performs well with this app with one acception- when you first install it the actions that are pre-set are not labeled. you need to go in and manually add your own actions or re-label the default actions using VO. If your up for the set-up, this app is a real time saver. Launch Center Pro functions like a Favorites list for my entire iPhone!

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some minor accessibility issues with this app, but they are easy to deal with.

Having a bit of trouble with that. In the Help section for creating actions, it says: "Look for a blank tile, which is indicated with a big + in the center, and tap it." It goes on to say that there are buttons for deleting actions, which I'm able to find. But I haven't managed to land on the spot I need to create a new action.

can't find the tiles either... How can I create new actions? Help please!

To Create an action: Open the app. Tap the Edit button. Find an unlabeled tile. Tap Action Composer. You'll be able to see what apps you have that work with Launch Center from here. I created all new actions and do not use the defaults because VO didn't read them. My Launch Center now lives in my doc and contains the following frequently used actions: Open Prisma, Call Corbett, Open Downcast, Tweet with Tweetlist, Open Google in Safari, Txt Michelle, Open a note in Evernote, and Txt James.

When I open the app and double tap on Edit, here's what I've got, flicking from left to right. I haven't changed any of these; they're the default from when I first opened the app. The title of the screen is: Edit Actions Done Button 3 Tile Delete buttons Last Photo Search Last Photo 3 Tile Delete buttons Dial Contact New Email New Message 3 Tile Delete buttons Search Contacts Bookmarks 3 Tile Delete buttons Message John Apps Email Anna Just using New Message as an example... I can double tap on that to open it, then double Tap Action Composer, and edit that specific action. But I'm seeing no way, from that main Edit screen, to add a completely new action. So basically, I'm only able to edit the actions that are already built into the app, but I'm not able to add any of my own. I don't know if that's how it's supposed to be, but that definitely limits the number of actions that can be created.

As far as I know, I couldn't find a way to create actions using voiceover. However, you can edit The existing actions and groups. Once you double tap on the edit button, you can change any of the existing actions. This would be the 2 last picture actions, the search action near the top of the screen, the 2 compose e-mail/message actions, and the dial contact action. When you double tap them while editing, it will bring up a screen where you can edit the name and URL of the action or you can choose action composer to select from a list of categories. If you choose something from the action composer, the URL and name will change automatically. There are also groups such as Contacts, Bookmarks, Apps and the search closer to the left side of the screen. These groups contain multiple actions. They are activated by double tapping and holding then moving your finger to the area where the desired action is. Unfortunately, once you double tap and hold, voiceover doesn't speak the items under your finger. It's a bit of a guessing game but you can find out where the contained apps are by editing the groups. To edit the groups, double tap edit then the group. The screen contents will then change to show the actions within the group. From there, you can edit the actions in the same way as before. Also, for your information, when editing, the delete tiles are above the actions that they correspond to. Since there isn't an accessible way to create new actions, I wouldn't recommend deleting any actions just yet. I contacted the developer on twitter and they were receptive to making accessibility improvements and having blind beta testers. I'd say the features that aren't accessible are creating new actions, activating actions within groups and rearranging actions and groups.

I figured it out thanks to the app developer who helped me out on twitter. You basically need to go into edit mode, turn off voice over, and tap an empty spot on the screen. There are many tyles o you'll most likely be lucky. Once you've done that turn voice over back on and it'll work. He also said he'll be making it more accessible in the future. Hth Oriol

My reasoning for saying this is, while yes, you can add actions and use them inside the app, there doesn't seem to be a way with VO to add the url to what you want to do to the home screen. I know there's an add to home screen option, but it seems to direct you to the page the app brings you to. is it only available through the app?
In this latest release, we're now able to add actions without having to disable VO and randomly touch parts of the screen. What's New in Version 2.2 ***Now available for iPad! I just got this app yesterday! Is there a way to remove groups such as links,?

By Brooke on Friday, March 21, 2014 - 22:19

I'm not 100% sure on this because I don't have any groups at the moment. But if you go into the app, then into Edit, you should be able to double-tap on each item. Once there, at the very bottom of the page (a 4-finger tap at the bottom of the screen got me there), you should have the Delete button.

By Brooke on Saturday, June 21, 2014 - 22:19

In the latest release, the process of deleting groups is now accessible to VoiceOver users. In my opinion, the app is now completely accessible with VO.

In looking at the app I see now that ht professional recorder is supported. I still don't get how this app is useful. I'm not trying to be mean or anything I'm just a bit confused.

Take care and be blessed.
