Looking for a voice conferencing app

I am looking for a voice conferencing app preferably, but not exclusively, a popular one that both blind and sighted use) with the following specifications:

-- allows me to create a new, blank conference (that is, one where you don't necessarily have to start out with users already selected).

-- (preferable but not required) allows all people, including those that don't necessarily have accounts, to join a conference I've created

-- (preferable but not required) allows people to join my conferences that are my Facebook and Twitter friends

-- allows me to share via Facebook and/or Twitter that I have created a conference

Please let me know what you would recommend.

Thanks.

Hey,

Try VoxOx. It has voice conferencing options and seems to be completely accessible.

I'm actually not looking for any app that requires some kind of regular phone intervention. I'm just looking for an app that will create a voice chat room where you can invite other people to join by clicking a link you put out on Facebook, Twitter, etc. I'd also prefer that anyone, not just people signed up to that program, could get into a room I create.

I don't think there is such a thing. I mean you want privacy. And this is not a way to have it. If you send a link to your facebook you will and often do just get anyone. To have open access like this is to me not cool!

Hello Misty.
I would definitely recommend Zello, which is a walkie-talkie app. One of the features it allows you to do is create a channel you can have available to the public, and you can invite people you're friends with on Zello to it. You can also share the link to the channel you created through Facebook, twitter, email, or a text message. And best of all, it's free. I use it all the time.
Hope this helps. :)

A good app for confrencing is talko, but you either need to create an account or sign in with n existing facebook account. Nevertheless, it's free, accessible, and the voice quality is outstanding. the really neet thing about is that you can do either push-to-talk like zello or continuous transmition like skype, and also video and text as well while you talk.

When you create a chat room, does Zello allow *anyone*, even if you don't have an account with them, to join it, say, when they just click the link you sent to Twitter?

I don't think so.

What you need is something like a icecast server plus something to allow people to talk.

I would say the closest you will get to it is using teamspeak or teamtalk, but I do not know if they're accessible on mac.

By using both ... uit is possible to setup a server wich does not require user accounts and you have fine control over who can speak when .... but the down side to it is folks will have to install the client.
