Case to combine a Braille display and iPad

Hello, Are there any cases designed to hold a Braille display and an iPad? I am thinking similar to a portfolio style case that is often seen for adding a QWERTY keyboard to an iPad. Is there something that could be used to hold a Braille display and iPad in a similar manner, using the Braille display instead of a QWERTY keyboard?

Not as far as I know. There are different types of covers that come with portable Bluetooth keyboard, some of these keyboards are removable. However, it is not safe to place a Braille display on top of these kind of cases because it can easily fall.

Hello ...

Now that I have the portable Refresherbraille, I also wish there were such cases :-) . That would be extremely ideal. A nice leather case holding the iPad/iPhone and the braille display together, on top of each other.
And speaking of cases, is the case for the Refresherbraille that the manufacturers, APH, sell any good? I mean, is it 'portable', does it fit into your handbag/purse, and so on? Or is it (as I'm suspecting) a Little bulky, and isn't really intended to fit into a handbag?
And if it's any good, what's the best way to order it? Somehow the link on the APH webpage didn't seem to be working when I tried it a few days ago...

Thanks so much! And please let us continue to 'campaign' so that Apple and/or the manufacturers of our braille displays will make it possible for us to 'wake up' our iOS device with our displays!
(And again, apologies for that rather silly user name :-) .)

Hello,
The case that APH once sold for the RfreshaBraille 18 is no longer for sale.
However, just very recently, Executive Products inc, made a case for the RefreshaBraille 18.
It is made of leather, has magnets to let you close and open it, a zipper pocket on the top and a strap.
The link to purchase this case is
https://www.executiveproductsinc.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=378&products_id=1965
I have the case and use it every day with my RefreshaBraille 18.

hi could someone describe the refreshibraile to me?
I'm thinking of gettting a display but don't know wich one to get.
Does this one have a braille keyboard and does it work with NVDA?

I want to get a display I can carry around with me that is small and light.

If you don't want to respond on here cause of it being off topic email me at, bradleybrown2@live.co.uk
Thanks

Wow!
Thank you so much for the info, and for the link!

Why is there still a link to this case on the APH website? And when you click on it, it says 'Generic Error' or something :-) . Really confusing :-) ... I haven't found any 'statement' explaining that they don't sell this anymore :-) .

Sorry for bothering you with more questions :-) , but what is the case like? I mean, is it small and Slim, so that it easily fits into a bag/purse? Or is it not really intended for that? Maybe I'm getting this wrong, but it seems to me that, with this case, one is supposed to carry the display around, not put it in one's bag/purse. And I think I wouldn't really want that.

And concerning the question about the RB: Yes, I'd recommend it. It feels nice, looks OK (I'm told by everyone), is light, portable, and the batery life is OK (20 hours or so I'd say). Yes, it has a keyboard, keys to navigate back and forth, cursor routing buttons (of course), and a joystick in the middle that you can press to select an item or to navigate. So it's a good display, I'd say. But it has one real drawback and that is that plugging in the cable to charge the device is difficult at first. I was getting pretty desperate, but a sighted friend figured out the best way to plug in the cable. So now I find it really easy. It's difficult to describe what I mean when you don't have the display in front of you. But basically one must hold the cable so that one can push it into the cavity in one hand (between two fingers or something), and feel for the port at the 'back' of the cavity with the other hand. One can feel when the cable is in the right position (neither too high nor too low), if one has managed to put it there :-) and one pushes with the hand holding the cable, one will have successfully plugged it in :-) .
I'm sure that didn't make much sense now, but at least I tried :-) .

Hello and sorry for posting to this old thread again!

But I can't order the case for the RB. It seems the manufacturers (who I'd rather not name in this context :) ) just cannot be bothered and don't deliver this case to customers outside of the US. I live in Europe and, after many weeks of trying, I can now 'report' that, while we got a couple of responses from the responsible person, it was not possible to actually place an order :-( . And since – as far as I know – this company is the only manufacturer that makes a case for the RB, I'm out of ideas now :-( . I want to carry around the display, but just putting it in my handbag without any protection can hardly be described as 'ideal' (probably especially for someone like me who wants things to last because they care about the environment) :( .
Does anyone have any suggestions? What can I do? Is there really no way to get the/any good case? The manufacturers obviously cannot be bothered to deliver it to people who happen to live in Europe :( .
Thanks so much for reading this and for any help! And sorry for having to ask this on here. But I thought I'm now desperate enough :-) ...

Hi, just had a look at the link, and at the bottom of the page, it asks Europe customers to order it from www.comproom.co.uk
Haven't actually tried it, as I said, just read the website...

Hope it helps

Khafsa :)

Wooow! Thanks so much for your effort!
That's exactly what we did. The person you're supposed to contact did respond a couple of times, but that's as far as we got :-) . Actually placing an order has proved impossible, no matter how many times we contacted them.
This is so frustrating and annoying! What sort of customer service is that supposed to be? So one can only get this case if one lives in the US :-) . What a fair and equal treatment :-) .
But seriously: Is there really no other way to get this or another good case? There 'must' be. This is ridiculous. Don't you agree?
What 'solutions' have any of you found if you want a case for the RB but live outside the US?
