jawbone era headset won't show up in list of bluetooth devices or connect to iPhone 5s

hi all, I just bought a jawbone era headset from amazon and got it for forty dollars, and got it yesterday. the problem I now have is 1, when i go to my bluetooth settings and turn on bluetooth, it sees a previous speaker i pared with and yes, I have told my iPhone to forget the previous bluetooth speaker, but it still shows up in my list of devices. 2, my era headset will not show up at all what so ever in the list of devices even though it is turned on. my 5s says things like in progress, and now discoverable but no headset, just the speaker which I have told the iPhone to forget. anyone know how I might be able to solve this mysterious problem?
