Seeing Assistant Light

Category

Description of App

SeeingAssistant-Light allows blind people to detect the light sources. It is a subset of SeeingAssistant-Home functionality, working as a standalone application. During operation, SeeingAssistant-Light generates a characteristic, continuous sound. The tone of that sound depends on light intensity – the more intense light, the higher the tone. User can locate the light source by turning camera when the sound has the highest pitch – camera then points to the brightest point. Sound can be turned on and off by triple-tap on VoiceOver mode. User can not only check whether light in the room is turned on, but also whether some electronic device with display is turned on, or even whether LEDs on electrical device is turned on or off.

This app sounds like the light detector app, so was just wondering if there are any differences? Light detector, when I bought it cost me 99 cents and does all of those things described. In fact, I use it to check my monitor.

There is a review of this app and all of it's features at www.horizons-blind.org in the What's New Section..
Review at www.horizons-blind.org/?p=1090‎ is made for free version of application SeeingAssistant-Home called SeeingAssistant-Home Lite. Lite in this case means simpler version of application. Application SeeingAssistant-Light is only for detection of light, in this case light means luminosity.
