yesterday I contacted the developers of Vokul. I told them what a great app Vokul is and how well it works with VoiceOver. I also mentioned a few features that would be niceto see such as email dictation, facebook status dictation, reminders and alarms. I also asked aboutthe data usage of the app because I have a limited dataplan. Below is the email I got in response. He mentioned some bugs with VoiceOver which I haven't experienced. If you have noticed any I would be curious to know what they are. Thanks.
Hi Holly,
Thank you so much for the positive feedback. We're glad to hear that you're enjoying using vokul.
We are currently in the process of submitting the next version of vokul to Apple for review. The next version includes several new features, including Bluetooth operation, e-mail dictation, and Twitter/Facebook updating. Also, you'll be able to listen to your Facebook newsfeed and Twitter timelines as a live audio stream. In addition, we've fixed the incompatibilities with VoiceOver that you may have experienced in the current version.
We are planning to add appointments and reminders/alarms to the next version.
To address your data usage question, vokul only uses the network when performing freeform dictation. All other speech recognition, including contact and media item lookups, is performed on your device. For freeform dictation, the amount of data transferred is quite small - around 20 KB max per dictation. For example, with a 200 MB data plan, you'd be able to perform 10,000 dictations a month without incurring any usage fees.
Thanks again for your e-mail. We hope you enjoy the next version; I'll let you know as soon as it's available.

Promising Indeed!
That is great news! I am truely looking forward to this new update. The second update features along with the next update would be a glam slam in my book. I really do love this Vokul very much. I had sent them in suggesting all of those features several months back. So glad to hear that they will be releasing every suggestions I wanted to see. Now looks like I need to write back to them for two more suggestions.
Need to see if they could make it possible to copy your dictation and lastly go beyond the United States for others to enjoy as much as we are.
Thanks for updating us!
Is it just me, or does the main iOS volume go down
Is it just me, or does the main iOS volume go down to silent when using Vokul? I've had this happen twice. Each time it's happened, I have not turned either the main volume or the VoiceOver volume down. Maybe I'm just having weird issues.
