macOS and Mac Apps
Good morning. Is there a way to navigate websites similar to how I navigate them using jaws for windows? How do you access a pdf file from a website using preview? I purchased the app type2phone to use with my mac and iPhone since I am having problems with my small Bluetooth keyboard. How do I pair my iPhone 5s with the type2phone app? Thank you.

You must pair with your Bluetooth settings on your Mac. Open settings on your phone, open Bluetooth, and locate your Mac. Then click pair and except on your computer. You should be able to see your phone and type to phone after that.

Web navigation will be different, and it becomes easier if you forget about how Jaws does it. After all, not only is this a different screen reader, it is a different web browser and platform.

The simple answer is that you cannot arrow around websites, you must vo-right or vo-left. You can get first-letter navigation, though, by going to the VO Utility (vo-f8), finding Commanders in the table, selecting the Quicknav tab, and checking "Enable single-key webpage navigation when using Quick Nav" checkbox. Now, when you are on a webpage and turn Quicknav on with the left and right arrows together, you can use normal navigation commands - h for headings, t for tables, and so on. You can even use the table in that same part of the VO Utility to change which letters go to which functions.

There's also the Web Rotor, which can be turned on by pressing Control-Option-U. This will give you a bit about the layout of the website, such as how many links and headings it contains. I haven't used it much though yet myself but it seems to work pretty well. Escape will turn it off. I'm assuming there are trackpad equivalents for the Web Rotor as well, but I don't use my trackpad.
The only Bluetooth device listed on my iPhone is my Logitech keyboard. Am I doing something wrong?

Sarah, In the bluetooth settings on your mac, you need to make sure your mac is discoverable. Go into system preferences, find Bluetooth, and you should be able to turn this setting on in there. Then, open type2phone, go back into your iPhone's settings/bluetooth, From there, you should see the name of your app. Tap connect and follow the prompts you are given. I hope this helps.
is there a commands list for using type2phone? How do you turn quick nav off and on so you can reply to a text message? the usual left and right arrows did not work.

There is no command list as such. However, if you go into the "special" menu, then the Voiceover submenu, you will find all these options and more. On the Mac, you can go into System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts to add hotkeys to any of these functions if you want to.
