Hello to all. I'm trying to set up a bootcamp drive on my mid 2009 mbp 13 inch. I dod the following.

  1. launch boot camp utility
  2. clicked continue.
  3. made sure both boxes were checked.
  4. connected my thumb drive. (it's formatted properly).
  5. clicked continue
  6. chose my thumb drive and clicked continue.
  7. said ok when it said all my mac supported was win7.

That's when the trouble started. I got an error saying the software was not available on the update server. I have been trying for about a day now. I looked at the apple support forums and no one is quite helpful. I even read an apple KB on it that aid I should have bootcamp 4, but i"m running mavericks. so I really don't know what to do from here.

Take care all.

You did every thing correctly. I am not sure why it is not working.

Hehaah. I know I did. I like I said googled around and most of the forums said try on another mac. Well, that wont' work as I only have this one. Is there a way to circumvent the thing and put the drivers on to the flash drive yourself? A lot of people have this problem on the support forums I've read and no one seems to help. with their suggestions.

Take care.

Hi Marrie. Do you have a optical disc drive? When I did it I saved the drivers to a DVD and it worked fine. It was a couple of years ago so unfortunately I can't remember the process too clearly. Sorry I can't be of more help. I did though follow the instructions from the following link. http://www.macworld.com/article/1165272/bootcamp.html

I do have a dvd drive, but I figure the flash media might be faster. I can do a dvd drive though. but it is a bit broken dn works some of the time. lol! I'll try that and get back to this post.

Update: I can't see the cd drive in the list of choices. I put a cd in there, I don't have any dvds, and it will not see the drive. I can burn cds though so that's not the issue. This is getting odder and odder.

Take care.

Ok, in looking at the article, I see that there should be an option to burn to a cd or to install to ausb disk. I don't see that option. I only see the usb disks. This is running maverickss with all updates. and this is starting to drive me nuts. For anyone instesed here is a screen shot of what happens after I click continue after I check the box that says download support drivers.

There is no burn to disk or anything like that as far as I can see.

Take care.

It seems to me that you are having trouble downloading the Windows Support Software for Boot Camp.. correct? I have done a little research on this and I think I have discovered the problem... I could be wrong though. You said that you have a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro 13-inch running Mavericks, yes? I am curious what version of Boot Camp you are running? I am also curious... what version of Windows are you planning to install on the Boot Camp Partition?

By KE7ZUM on Friday, February 28, 2014 - 14:11

I'm tryign to install windows7. I can't remember if I stated this. the bootcamp version that got updated with mavericks is bootcamp assistant version 5.1.1. I have a mid 2009 mbp 13 inch, correct.

Take care.

Based on the research... Apple seems to have cut support for 32-bit versions of Windows 7 for Boot Camp in Mavericks. It still seems to support 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and above though. This may be why you're having trouble... as I said though, I could be wrong.

Um, Ok? why would they do that? and a friend of mine is running windows 7 32 bit just fine on his machine which is now running mavericks. it started out as mountain lion.. Any other advice?

You can manually download the Windows Support Software for Boot Camp... based on your information you can get it here... http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630 For more information on which operating systems are supported on different Mac systems, go here... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634

Well it says bootcamp 4 or 5. It did not say anything about 64 vs 32 bit. I have the files so do I just copy the what ever it is to the thumb drive? th epdf that the article was from is a bit confusing.

Thanks.

Yes, those instructions are confusing considering that there is no DMG file in the downloaded ZIP file. In Windows or Mac OS X... 1. Decompress the ZIP file. 2. Copy the Boot Camp folder to your thumb drive. In Windows on your Boot Camp partition... 3. Go to the Boot Camp folder on your thumb drive and run the SETUP file. 4. When prompted to allow changes, click YES, then follow the onscreen instructions. 5. When the installation is complete, click on FINISH and then restart your system when asked. Note! The installation may take several minutes to complete... please do not interupt the installation process.

Ok, I managed to successfully create the boot camp install, how ever whenI ran the setup.exe again as my cd is an upgrade disk I got can't create install directory. I have 10 gigs gigs free. Could that be the problem? I thought I set up 20 gig bootcamp partitions before but can't remember.

Thoughts?

Once you have created a Windows Support Software install disk you'll need to create a Boot Camp partition and install Windows onto that partition. Please Note! Boot Camp does not support the creation of partitions on removable media... CD/DVD, USB Hard Drives, USB Thumb Drives, and so on. You'll need to create the partition on an internal Hard Drive on your Mac using the Boot Camp Utility. It is not recommended using the Disk Utility to create Boot Camp partitions... you can only use the Boot Camp Utility to create a Boot Camp partition. Please Note! When installing Windows onto your Boot Camp Partition you'll need to format the partition using the Windows Disk Management tools during setup of Windows. For more information about Boot Camp please go to the Support site here... http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ for Frequently Asked Questions about Boot Camp version 5, go here... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5639 I highly recommend reading the FAQ about Boot Camp as well as the Boot Camp Support page.

I did all of that and all went well, until I had to upgrade as I bought a upgrade cd, so basically install win7 over win7. I have done this b before on a bootcamp drive iwht no issues, but now here's the oss part.

I can boot in to bootcamp fine wing vmware, but when I boot in to it natively it says that some files were damaged. I can't figure this out. I had no issues using snl 3 years ago in doing this, it just worked. Ihave a 40 gig partition on bootcamp and I used the applevis guide on how to do this, it went off with out a hitch.
