Listening to audio on .epub files with voiceover on

After a bit of use I've realized that when using iBooks with voiceover one cannot access any audio files attached to that ebook. Does anyone know of an app for .epub files that will play audio while voiceover stays on? Thanks - JD

Have you tried playing the audio files using iTunes.
