Hi All, I just got my new iPhone 5S and am looking for apps to use with the new M7 motion tracking chip feature. I have just downloaded Pedometer++ which is good though very basic but is at least VoiceOver accessible. The Nike+ Move app doesn't seem to be available in my region. I also tried one of the Runtastic apps but there are unlabelled elements all over the place! Any recommendations? I'd like one that will track cycling as well as walking and running. Thanks.

Hi. I'm looking for a basic pedometer app that will track steps walked, and distance and calories if possible. Pedometer++ by Cross Forward Consulting, LLC, sounded like just what I'd want. Unfortunately, after I downloaded it, I found that it already had 7000 steps programmed into it upon launching the app for the first time. Voiceover read a line of the 7 days of the week going across, with steps and miles walked above each day. I hadn't moved from my chair since I'd downloaded it. I could not figure out a way to clear the step counter to start from zero. I looked at all the settings and tapped pretty much every number on the screen. The step count never increased even though I made several laps around my apartment (I did allow the app to access my motion sensor). If someone is successfully using pedometer++ with voiceover, I'd be interested in how you got it to work for you. I might want to clear my steps and distance walked at the end of each day. If someone knows of another basic pedometer app that accurately measures steps and distance, and is accessible with voiceover, I'd be interested in your recommendations as well. For now, I deleted pedometer++ from my phone.

Hi. Regarding Pedometer++, the accessibility of the current version isn't great. However I have been working with the developer and beta testing. A new update with greatly improved accessibility should be released shortly. I don't know of any way to clear the data to zero, but I can't think why you would need to. This app (which will be more obvious when you have the accessible version soon) resets to zero every day. You can simply scroll through the last seven days and get the individual step count for each day, as well as a combined total for the past seven days. The reason that there were already numbers there when you opened the app for the first time is that the actual data comes from within iOS and is stored in the background, so when you give this app permission to view the motion data, it shows you the past seven days even though you didn't have the app at that point. Running the accessible version, I find this app to be very good, and nice and simple.

Have you tried the app run keeper?

Thanks, Dave. Later yesterday, I took another look at the app store reviews and saw one that said the app pulls the past week's data from your motion sensor. I tried out pedometer++ again, and noticed this morning that Monday's step count reset to zero. Thank you for your feedback; it makes a lot of sense. I'm looking forward to seeing the upcoming accessibility improvements. Isaac, I saw a lot of reviews in the app store about run keeper that indicated that it didn't work accurately on the 5S, which is what I have.
