Accessibility Comments

Initially, the welcome screen appears to be inaccessible, but there is a way to get around this, see below in the comments. Other than that, every part of this app seems to be VoiceOver-friendly. I was able to get a listing of all the different shows, and was able to watch one successfully...the developers really did a good job on this one.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

Not difficult at all to use! If you've been looking for a way to catch up on tv shows on ABC this one is a real winner. Note there are still some commercials, but not as many as you might see if you watched the show as it airs live.

Hello all, I use to be able to pick a show to watch then double tap on which episode I wanted to watch and it would play. Now since the app was updated I have to pick my cable provider before I can watch the show, but this can not be done with VoiceOver. The buttons for different cable providers are there, but VoiceOver doesn't recognize them. I had to have my sighted son pick my cable provider for me before I could watch the show I wanted to watch. He tried picking the provider with Voice Over, but it just can't be done. Such a disappointment cause this is an app I really enjoyed using. A step back in accessibility. Has anyone else experienced this problem with this app, and is there a work around? Thank you.
When I installed this app, Voiceover read absolutely nothing. I even tried turning VO off and touching around the screen to see if I could get something to happen. I'd say at the moment, this app is totally inaccessible.

Hello Brooke, That same thing happened to me right after I updated the Watch ABC app. I had to have my sighted son get me past that screen cause nothing can be done on that screen with VO. Such a shame cause I really like this app.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. Since the latest update I'm not able to use this app effectively, and it's a real shame. You guys on the editorial team might consider changing the rating on this app to reflect the updates. Hopefully if another update comes out we'll have better luck.

Toonhead, Not sure if you know this or not. The app entry was done by you. So you can change this and the rating if this is done by the original poster. In this case you can do this by doing a Login. Go to this page. Underneath the name of the app. You should have the Edit link available to you. If this is a problem. Please let us know in how we can help. We always encourage people that have submitted app on to AppleVis to update their content when you can. HTH

The inaccessible screen being presented at launch contains some text describing new features along with a single button which must be activated to dismiss this screen. On my iPhone 5S, this button was located approximately one inch above the home button. I was able to dismiss this screen by toggling VO off with triple-click-home, then tapping once in the area an inch above the home button, and then toggling VO back on. It took me a couple of tries but I eventually hit it. Sorry, I'm not sure exactly where the button will show up on a different sized screen such as an iPad.

I was able to submit a problem report via ABC's accessible feedback form at http://abc.go.com/feedback I also called their U.S. feedback number, 1-800-230-0229. The person who answered patiently took my information and also verified that my online problem report had been filed successfuly. I should mention I had originally tried using the feedback form built into the App, but found it to be difficult to navigate reliably. Form fields and the on-screen keyboard seemed to appear and disappear randomly.
