Hi. I have a question about an app. I downloaded an app on GitHub called Classic Voices. It has some of the Mac voices, like the Alex voice (I can't get it to work) and works with NVDA and SAPI. I know Apple doesn't allow decompiliation in their software. I just downloaded the app and the voices. It did compile them, but only to work with Windows. I'm sort of confused about this. Is it okay to use these voices just for personal use? It's under the MIT License. The GitHub link is https://github.com/levi-gobin/classicvoices. Thanks.

There was a similar post to this a few months back. It was on here for a very short time and they were removed from the website. You may want to look into the legality of this. I honestly don’t know about putting Apple voices through windows. I would say it’s probably not OK if Apple doesn’t allow duplication of the software. That’s what I’m guessing.
Re: There was a similar post to this question before
Considering it is the MIT license (which quoting from the person maintaining the project:
"No apple code is in the repo."
),
This could go either way.
They work on my WIndows machine
I have Alex on my Windows machine and it works great.
Similar Projects to This One
when it comes to voices (along with everything else listed at the link below), were created by Andre Louis himself:

, and all voices require connecting to the internet to download from their official web sites (unless otherwise noted).
Thus, you do you. At least everything can be inspected on your own terms.
Siri Nvidia voices
I downloaded an NVDA add-on that brings the American English Siri voices to NVDA. From what I know this uses a Mac OS version and ports over the voices. I'd imagine this may have been vibe coded? Wouldn't be overly surprised but it works. Although when I used the Nora voice, I wasn't much of a fan. Not because it didn't sound good. The highs in the audio were very irritating and sounded unusual
That’s supposed I was thinking of, thanks
Hey Dominic, that’s the post I was thinking of. It said NVDA add-on to make Apple voices working in windows. We were talking about it for a very short time when it was removed from this website just as easily as it came on or quickly as it came on, so yeah that’s my only concern here. You guys do you. I have no idea if this stuff is legal or not but since it’s not using any Apple code, maybe it’s totally cool. Does it work in Jaws as well? If that’s the case, I might be willing to play with it. I don’t have or use NVDA. I’ve never even used it ever. But I think I’m going to after this year. I just don’t know which one of those weird gray area things for me. But hi yeah there’s some weird audio hides in some of the voices in the iPhone right now too I know what you mean. Although it’s gotten a bit better since this update so yeah have fun with these voices and windows. For me hearing an Apple voice coming out of Windows computer would be as strange as the eloquent voice is coming out of my iPhone, but yeah that’s just me. I’m sure I could get used to either one if I wanted to.
