Description of App

Pocket FM is the world's #1 audio dramas platform and the ultimate audio entertainment destination for 250M+ listeners worldwide. Whether you are an audiobook lover, a podcast fan, or just someone who wants great stories — Pocket FM takes you further. This is original audio fiction: episodic, binge-worthy, and built by 550,000+ creators including the world's best authors, storytellers, narrators, and voice-over artists. Pocket FM reimagines audio storytelling beyond radio and FM.

With over 100,000 hours of original audio content across every genre, Pocket FM is where great storytelling lives.

A new kind of audio entertainment

Pocket FM sits at the intersection of audiobooks, podcasts, and on-demand audio streaming — and goes beyond all three. Like your favourite podcast, new episodes drop every single day across hundreds of active shows. Like an audiobook, every drama is rich with character, narrative depth, and world-building. Like a live audio broadcast, there is always something fresh to tune in to. But unlike any of those, Pocket FM is built purely for binge listening — episodic, cliffhanger-driven, and impossible to stop.

Stream audio content over Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G, LTE, or any mobile data connection. Pocket FM is optimised for low-bandwidth networks so the story never buffers, no matter where your signal takes you.

Genres include:

Romance
Drama
Fantasy and Sci-fi
Romantasy and Werewolf
Thriller
Horror
Mystery — new audio dramas added every week

Accessibility Comments

This app is quite cumbersome to use. Not only are their unlabeled buttons, but some of them are either images, or labeled incorrectly. A lot of elements, such as the titles of series, cannot be read by VoiceOver.
If you have the patience, and perhaps with a lot of determination, you could get around this app. But it is not entirely usable.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Few buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

As a producer and avid listener of audio dramas, I was interested in the idea of this app when it came across my YouTube ads. I keep getting ads for the Vampire System, or something to that effect. I'm all for a dark story, but the ads for this just sound like it's trying to be over-edgy for edginess's sake. And the acting! Oh geez! I'm almost positive they use AI actors for almost everything I've heard. The acting is genuinely horrible. Still, just to see what else was on there, I downloaded the app. Even with some sight, I found it annoying to use though. It is not worth it at this time with Voiceover. All this to say, not the greatest first impressions in advertising or usability. Ugh, that acting! The voice actor in me is cringing so hard.

Both Pocket FM and Pocket Toons (a sister app) have labeling issues. Thus, it is not surprising that the iOS version also has the same disarray.

While very hard to use with VoiceOver, I was able to use Pocket FM about a year ago. I got a push notification from it today, and figured I'd give it a go. I was glad to see that it had become to a good degree accessible to VoiceOver. I haven't gotten the chance to fully explore all of the app, but the tabs were labeled, the buttons in the player had good labeling, and I was able to review the list of unlocked items, as well as download them.
Might be worth anyother look.
Seems like someone really tried to get in touch with the Pocket FM team on the Android side about a year ago too.
