Accessibility Comments
I was going to rate this as having problems but usable. However, I then tried to use the automatic song recognition, which promptly killed VoiceOver. The only way to get VoiceOver back working was to restart the iPhone, as no amount of triple clicking of the Home button would bring it back. If you avoid this feature, then other parts of the app are usable. First, however, you will need to get past the 4 page intro screen when first running the app - use the 1-finger tap and hold, and then slide your finger to the left. On the fourth page you will find a button which will take you to the app proper. When viewing the information page for a song, VoiceOver behaviour is inconsistent. On some pages it will read the first part of the content (which generally includes a link to a video), but not find the lyrics unless you tap directly on them. On other pages, the opposite is the case. Button labelling is also poor in many places. Despite all of this, I’m probably still going to rate this as usable, but don’t expect it to be the best experience.
VoiceOver Performance
VoiceOver reads most page elements.
Button Labeling
Few buttons are clearly labeled.
Usability
There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.
I tried this app as I would love to know the meanings behind some of my favorite songs, unfortunately I couldn't use this app at all. Like the initial post says if you are patient and don't mind banging your head against the wall than you might be able to use this app. Hopefully they will make this app more accessible with future releases.
