Quick Nav Completely Broken on Mac OS 26.5.1

Hello awesome AppleVis community:

Apologies if this has been posted before, but I want to confirm a new bug with QuickNav on mac OS Tahoe 26.5.1. I had to update to the latest version for accessibility testing reasons and am regretting it.

We all know that QuickNav in general is buggy. I use it to browse the web almost exclusively, which is why it's so annoying. OK, my problem: when I press the left and right arrow keys, VO just goes into the element that currently has focus. No tone, no speech, no confirmation that quickNav was toggled, and definitely no quickNav. I've checked all the boxes in the VO Utility that I think may be relevant and still don't see a change. This behavior is the same no matter what app is in use, and I've done all the normal troubleshooting steps like restarting VO and the computer.

Is this a true bug? Is it still present in 26.5.2? When investigating how to downgrade Mac OS, it appears you can't do it without reformatting your whole disk, which I'd rather not do; then again, I don't know if I can deal with this bug until September when Golden Gate is released. If I'm missing a setting, I'm hoping someone can tell me which one.

Thanks for any help!

you could always beta test, and see if this bug is still present.

Specifically, VO-shift-q toggles arrow quick nav, while VO-q toggles single letter. I haven't used quick nav in over a year. VO-arrows works, all the time. I just toggle single letter on for the web. I don't think I ever ran into any bugs, it was just annoying to toggle it and honestly I didn't see much of a point.

While this will require you to reconfigure your VoiceOver preferences, resetting them could potentially resolve the issue with Quick Nav not being toggled as expected. To do this, open VoiceOver Utility and choose File > Reset VoiceOver Preferences > All Preferences.

Hi all,

Thanks for the suggestions!! VO Q and vO Shift Q are two shortcuts I forgot about. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have much effect, even though VO states that Quick Nav is either on or off now. since I'm not interested in running beta software on this computer yet, it looks like resetting my preferences may be the best option--although I have lots of custom commands and muscle memory built up. My keyboard commander is also not working, even though I have both it and the option to control VO with AppleScript on.
