zEdit — The Fully Accessible Video and Audio Editor Built for Blind Users

zEdit is the world's first fully accessible video and audio editing app, designed from the ground up for blind and low-vision users. Most media editing tools rely on visual, drag-and-drop interfaces — making them nearly impossible to use with a screen reader. zEdit solves this at its core: every screen, every button, and every gesture is designed to work flawlessly with VoiceOver. You can now edit your videos and audio recordings completely independently, without needing anyone else's help. ACCESSIBILITY COMES FIRST In zEdit, accessibility isn't a feature added later — it's the foundation of the app. It has been tested with VoiceOver at every stage of development. - Flawless VoiceOver compatibility: Every interface element has a meaningful label, hint, and correct reading order. No button is ever announced as an "unlabeled button." - VoiceOver-safe loading overlay: While operations are running, screen reader focus is never lost or thrown to the wrong place; the app tells you out loud what is happening at each step. - Logical navigation order: Screens can be explored from top to bottom by touch, and elements appear in the order you expect. - Spoken feedback: You receive clear announcements when actions like saving, exporting, or trimming are complete. - High contrast and large touch targets: For low-vision users, interface elements are easy to distinguish and comfortable to tap. VIDEO EDITING FEATURES - Trim and cut videos: Precisely set start and end points to remove the parts you don't want. - Merge multiple clips: Combine separate video pieces into one seamless video. - Delete and reorder sections: Remove pieces from the middle of a video or change their order. - Adjust the sound: Change the level of the video's audio, mute it entirely, or add new audio. - Extract audio from video: Save a video's audio track as a separate file. AUDIO EDITING FEATURES - Trim and merge recordings: Bring audio files to the length you want and combine pieces. - Volume control: Adjust the loudness of your recordings. - Add music or other audio: Layer multiple audio sources on top of one another. - Format conversion: Export your audio files in common formats. EXPORTING AND SHARING - Optimized export: The export engine has been refined for speed and quality, so your projects are saved quickly and at high quality. - Quality options: Choose the balance between file size and quality that suits you. - Easy sharing: Send your finished projects directly to other apps or save them to your device. MULTILINGUAL SUPPORT zEdit offers full support in six languages. You can use the app in your own native language and hear all menus and VoiceOver announcements in your language. WHY zEdit? What a blind user needs is not an app that is merely "said to be accessible," but a tool that has truly been hand-tested with every detail considered. That is exactly what zEdit is. It is an app built by a blind developer for blind users. That is why it works in practice, not just in theory. Media editing is now everyone's right. With zEdit, your videos and audio are fully under your control. Download zEdit today and experience what independent, accessible media editing feels like.

Accessibility Comments

The app is fully accessible. VO reads all UI elements.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver, but the interface could be easier to navigate and use.

Other Comments

I’ll submit some feedback regarding the way the app functions, such as when trimming the start and end, but the app is making video editing a whole lot easier for us on the go. The Magic Tap trimming feature is also genius. I’d also like to see the app in the Share menu so that we don’t necessarily have to open the app to export a video, and I’ll report that as well!

The dev has released some other apps, though I downloaded BlindRun and couldn't play it with VoiceOver enabled. I did get some great scores with VoiceOver disabled, but the game lacks some essential features like Game Center achievements, gradually increasing difficulty/speed, and high-quality sound effects. This one (ZEdit) is great though. I wrote a review on the App Store with suggestions for various improvements and features, including broader localization (Chinese, Russian, etc.), selection-based and AI-powered noise reduction, reverb and EQ with more detailed settings. So let's see whether the developer implements them. The app is great as-is though, and it eliminates the need for a computer for basic tasks. I use GoldWave Infinity on my iPhone but apparently ZEdit will replace it.

I wonder what AI has to do with these functions, just make them accessible.

AI can adapt to the noise profile and extract the noise without introducing unwanted artifacts or damaging anything that should be preserved.

Can I just edit audio or do I have to have video? I like the idea but I'm just curious. I have always liked Hokusai, but I want to get this one. It sounds nice.

Just have a look at the description and you'll know the answer in a second. Believe me, posting this question must've taken much longer.

As the previous poster once said, the description says all you need to know, but in one word, yes.

HHi,

I played with ZEdit, and I was able to import a test video into ZEdit, and I was able to remove background noise, and remove silence, and it worked very well. You also have the options to save, as well as export and share the finished video. Overall, very accessible! I haven't got a chance to play with merging clips yet but will soon.

Hello guys!

I really loved the app. I’d like to make a few suggestions:

Support for the Portuguese language.
The ability to hear exactly what we’re passing through in the audio while trimming and moving along the waveform, similar to Reaper’s scrubbing feature.

I also noticed a small bug: when I click “Preview,” the current screen closes, which doesn’t allow me to continue editing. I then have to exit, return to the trimming screen, and start editing again.

I hope I haven’t confused anyone.

Hi all,

A gentle reminder that if someone asks what is to you an obvious question (like "Can I just do audio editing?"), please either answer the question directly or ignore it. Replying to tell someone to "just look at the description and you'll know the answer" or similar, is unkind; unnecessary; and unhelpful. If someone knew the answer to a question, they wouldn't ask the question in the first place.

Thanks.

Hi.

This is a great app! However a basic audio/video recorder would be nice, but not essential. So for now I did a test recording in Voice Memos, imported it into Zedit, trimmed any unnecessary audio such as VoiceOver speech, then converted it to a test video. There is another test video on my Youtube channel, without performing any trimming. Speaking of trimming I used the amazing magic trimmer. This is where you magic tap to mark the start time, then magic tap again to mark the end time. You can then apply the trim by double tapping on apply. It really is magic!

Thank you guys, keep up the great work!

I have been waiting for accessible video editing since the days of screen recordings became even more difficult to edit than they were originally. I tried this for one of my recordings and it works fantastic. It really is a fully accessible video editor. Love the magic trim, and the ease of how I can crop the start of videos to. Many thanks for this and again it just really works great.

Hi, Version 2.9 is available. Here's what's new.

VERSION 2.9 This update focuses on a comprehensive stability review. NEW • The "Insert" feature is now called "Insert Content" and does more: into a video you can insert not only audio but also video (for example a meme) in the middle. Adding to the beginning/end is now an option under the same "Insert Content" button. • A "Use current position" button was added to the trim screens: pick the player's current moment for start and end with one tap. FIXES • Fixed the "you don't have permission" error when saving projects on iPad (and in some cases on iPhone): the projects folder is now created reliably, file copying was made resilient, and a clear message is shown if anything fails. • When you Cancel from the trim preview, your chosen start and end times are now kept, so you can adjust and retry without entering them again. • Fixed centisecond pickers in time fields sometimes not reflecting the chosen value (notably the start time not responding when moved backwards): time is now computed with integer arithmetic. • Fixed the share sheet offering no sharing options (only saving) for some audio formats (WAV, AIFF): the file type is now declared explicitly to the system. The format picker also explains which format is compatible with every app. • Every video operation (trim, split, mute, add audio, sound effect, filter, insert silence) now goes through a single, safe export path. This prevents black video, video turning into audio, or corrupted output on iPhone HDR (Dolby Vision) recordings at the root: the app verifies its own output and rebuilds it with the safest method when needed. • Sharing was made safe everywhere in the app; an empty or broken file is caught before sharing, preventing the "cannot be shared" error. • Video quality and resolution are preserved in every operation. The improvements were reviewed across the whole app as a coherent whole.

Hello! First off, I'm a TOTALLY BLIND video creator and I'm thrilled to see this revolution of being able to edit videos on my iPhone myself! The app is really good and it worked well on my first video of 20 seconds where I put some auto subtitles and then edited a couple words. Everything went smooth. But when I'm opening a 10-minute video and trying to create auto subtitles, it just either creates a few of them (usually 5 to 13 small blocks of text), or gives me an error that says "no speech found in the video." I hope the developers will fix it asap....

Good morning! So, I'd like to make some talking videos on TikTok, but I don't want my image to be recorded. Does this app allow me to do that?

By eyesfreesight on Friday, July 24, 2026 - 08:28

You mean you’d like to create animations instead of your face? Or a static picture? If it’s about the latter, I don’t think that the TikTok algorythms would even pay attantion to a static picture for the whole video, but I might be wrong ;)
