I have an Acer computer with Windows 11 and NVDA. I posted a while ago about the fact that I can’t use general windows commands when I’m on a website. For example, hitting enter in a. search field will not do anything, and tabbing through search fields will not do anything. I downloaded the ad on for NVDA that gives you some workarounds. But, this is getting ridiculous. Do you think it would be corrected if I installed a new copy of windows?

Questions
1. Does this happen with all browsers?
2. Does it also happen with other screen readers like JAWS or Narrator?
Need more info
I definitely need more info on this, but from the OP, it sounds like a keyboard issue? Like, when you go into window settings, if you press enter on the search field, does the inter-key work there? Are you able to input text And such? Or what about something like notepad? Are you able to input an edit text there?
Limited success
I tried narrator and chrome. It certainly opened the page faster than it usually does. I was able to type in form fields, which is what I meant instead of search fields, but hitting enter still didn’t work. I also tried to tab between fields, which did not work. Maybe I need to review the key strokes for narrator. I was able to move around in a document and edit as I needed to. So, can it have something to do with NVDA?
Try loading NVDA without add-ons
As the subject says, try loading NVDA without any add-ons. And then try loading up a website and see how it goes. I am still convinced that it's your keyboard, but we shall see.
there is a bunch of hair on the floor.
nothing seems to work. I switched keyboards to the one that came with the computer, but that didn’t seem to help. A behavior that I didn’t mention is that when you try to correct a mistake while you were in a form field, you can’t do it. It will not delete anything out of form fields. This computer is about to go out the window.
I would consider just factory resetting Windows at this point
I honestly don't know what's going on with your computer. I still think it's a keyboard issue, but if you've tried multiple keyboards, then it's possible that keyboard drivers are missing or corrupt. At this point, I would strongly encourage you to just factory reset your machine.
Best of luck to you.
Possible keyboard weirdness
Just curious, Honest Nan, what keyboard layout/language are you using? & does that agree w/your Windows language? Also, are you using desktop or laptop layout w/NVDA? Specifically, what is your NVDA key?
External Keyboard
Does it happen with external keyboards, if you have any around to try with?
keyboards
I am using the plug-in keyboard that came with the computer. The keyboard is the normal qwerty layout, using English. The computer is a desktop. Also, how do you factory reset your machine?
Factory resetting a Windows PC
In my experience, the easiest way to factory reset a Windows PC is to go to Settings > System > Recovery, click the "Reset PC" button, and follow the onscreen instructions to delete all files and reinstall Windows. I believe this installs Windows and restores any software that shipped from the manufacturer when the PC was new. If you want to reinstall Windows without restoring the manufacturer's software, you can download a stock Windows ISO from Microsoft and perform a clean install over your existing Windows installation.
