First, this is meant to be a light-hearted thread. I don't want to start a debate on the merits of AI descriptions.
That being said, when the stakes are low, inaccurate descriptions can be hilarious. Here are a few of mine:
"A blurry image of a blurry image": Actually just the welcome screen for the Walmart app.
"A smiling blonde haired blonde haired blonde haired blonde haired person smiling and posing for a photo": Really a GIF containing exactly one man.
"A cat sitting on a plate": Really a dog sitting on a baseball field.
What are some of yours?

Truely decided it was mad when
Told me a person lying on a bed with a dog next to him. When I'd totally blocked the camera expecting it to say can't see anything or totally black. Slightly off then!
Some of mine
Fo context my dog is a poodle and since they look quite like sheep because of their fur... Took a picture and at the time when I took it the dog was in his kennel which is a metal cage, sort of. Anyway, take the photo and seeing AI goes, a sheep in a cage. I cracked up at that. I get the why it described that but funny nonetheless.
A pile of rocks?
I made a braided rug and tried to take a picture of it. The description said it was a blue ribbon lying on a pile of rocks. After I stopped laughing, I decided that it thought the braiding looked like rocks. If you say so.
Bears in the UK
It was with the ring doorbell app through my iPhone, as you have the AI descriptions given to you when it’s locked the notification I received was that a bear was walking past my home which I thought was quite hilarious since we don’t have bears in the UK.
Dogs
A number of years ago, before LLMs, I remember trying some object detection type apps on my sleeping whippet. One told me she was a pigeon, the other an anteater.
A week or two ago, Siri told me that a photo which I assume was my chocolate Labrador and border terrier running around the beech was of an elephant and a calf. Sadly when I tried to find the photo a few days later so I could ask what the photo was really about, Siri had changed its mind. Anyway if there had been an elephant wandering around the beeches of Somerset in the UK then I would have mrs grieves might have mentioned it at the time.
@Saj
Perhaps you have a particularly tall and hairy neighbor? Haha
Several of Mine.
Here are a fwew of mine both from VO and Jaws when testing a university website for accessibility and alt text.
Image may be a demonstration, person posing for a photo, a police officer with a dog on a leesh posing for a photo. These are from my iPhone.
The alt text descriptions Jaws attempts to generate from the internet are a bit more amusing. I was testing a website with images of various faculty for my job. Jaws attempts to state image may contain actor in the fashion show for weekly fashion week, image may contain beauty is in the eyes of the beholder actor, image may contain women smiling person, image may be actor in the film acting. When I heard these I started laughing. :)
A livingroom in an alternate universe?
The most hilarious ones I have had have come from the Solos Envision glasses. After taking a picture of my living room, here is the description of what it generated, followed by a similar picture in the same area I sent to access AI.
The scene shows a classic Chinese-style building on the left side with intricate red and green roof ornaments. It is surrounded by a lush garden with various trees, including a large pine tree with twisted branches on the right. Rocks and stone formations add texture to the garden area, giving it a natural and serene feel. In the background, taller modern buildings hint that this garden is an urban oasis, possibly a traditional Chinese garden in a city setting. The overall atmosphere is one of calm and traditional beauty amidst a modern environment.
Now, Here's the pic taken from a phone and then described with Access AI. Hint, it was far more acurate.
A cozy living room scene with a woman sitting in a floral-patterned armchair on the left side, looking at her phone. She has light hair and is dressed in dark clothing. Next to her is a small table with a lamp, a water bottle, and some other items. The background reveals an open kitchen with brown cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and some items on the counters. In the foreground, a white fluffy dog with a colorful collar is sitting on someone's lap, facing toward the woman. The room is warmly lit, with carpeted flooring and various framed pictures on the walls. The environment feels homey and comfortable
my dog is a stuffed animal
AI thinks my dog is a teddy bear, from multiple different pictures of him.
I make no joke to you about this one
Had iOS built-in image recognition go to me once. "a bald headed bald headed bald headed bald headed." Was on a train as well, me, sitting there with Airpods in, music on randomly laughing my head off for about 10 minutes must have looked deluded
Something similar happened to me with a Facebook description
Something similar happened to me with the image descriptions and Facebook. Voiceover said a person with brown hair, brown hair, brown hair, brown hair, brown hair, brown hair brown hair. I basically just took the focus away from the description to get it to stop. It was so weird. That’s the only time I’ve seen that. I really don’t use any of the AI apps just cause I haven’t bothered to not because I’m like you know free of AI or anything I just haven’t bothered. I really needed to. I haven’t really needed apps like that so that’s why but yeah this is a great thread.
@Singer Girl
Congratulations. You found Bigfoot! 🤯
Not so much a description but
Anyone else find the mislabeling of age by AI's histerical? Haha when i've tried it with myself and others sometimes it’s a bit accurate at least close; band other times it adds a decade to the person haha. Funny for sure.
Re: Age
My 10-year-old cousin came up as a woman once. She took it as a compliment, and told her parents she was really mature for her age. I tried very hard not to laugh, with limited success.
I love this
I love this thread. This is hilarious. And Brian, I did find Bigfoot. Lol.
My standout
If you go to Apple Music, search for Dolly Parton, and have VO describe the artist image, you get a variant of, "A screenshot of a video game featuring a blond-haired blond-haired blond-haired person smiling and posing for a photo". I once got seven blond hairs in a row with that image and could not reproduce it since.
